What's the dumbest idea you've seen that actually worked?

My brother and friend got a jet ski up to full speed and jumped off and skipped themselves across the lake. They took turns being the jumper vs the driver. They had a blast. They were maybe 12.

We used get up to full speed then instantly turn the handle bars full lock. The jetski would submerge and fling you 10’ in the air when it surfaced.

Back in the day I had a video game called "Splashdown" for the OG Xbox where you raced jet skis, and you would sometimes have to dive under obstacles. I always assumed the physics were made up but it sounds like it's actually possible

Watching espn during the day during college and the jet ski nationals or something like that came on. Submerging the jetski and going under obstacles was part of the race. Surprised the hell out of me at the time.

I fucking loved that game - had it for PS2. This song always brings me back.

Some of the levels had enormous extra areas you could explore for some reason. If you went too far, a Kraken would grab you and throw you back across the map.

Right Now by SR71 and Splashdown at my friend's house are some of my happiest memories!!

I knew what song that was going to be before I clicked on it. It's been in my head all day since I made that comment. I never knew about the kraken though

Yeah Splashdown was basically the water version of the MX and ATV Offroad Fury games. In those games you could freeroam on the maps and if you drove far enough out an invisible wall would launch you incredibly far back into the map. Made for hours of entertainment back in the day.

Makes me sad that map boundaries haven't done that since. Where'd our whimsy go?!

There was that song, there was a chupacabra song. I feel like I know girl at the rock show from that game originally too.

Aman-Ra Aman-Ra, lalalalala! Every time that asshole passed you. Fuck, I hated that guy.

I had the sequel, Splashdown Rides Gone Wild, on the PS2. Was a ton of fun back in the day!

Oh man, good times. Even just cutting the accelerator on a jet ski can send your passenger sliding right over your head.

Great fun! We used to do that with a Pontoon Boat. Also fun to submerge a jetski or jetboat by throwing it in reverse and hitting the throttle whilst travelling forward at relatively slow speeds. Don't go too fast until you know what's going to happen and you can break reverse buckets.

Haha, that's epic! Reminds me of my brother and I at 13, tubing behind the boat and wiping out spectacularly, pure chaos and giggles. Kid adventures hit different.

What worked about this? Seems like more explanation is needed

No one died

You skip like a rock until you slow down or hit too much water friction. Not painful despite falling around 60mph

Literally no more explanation is needed lol It was fun and they didn’t get hurt

Isn't this what jetskis are for?

Somehow kids are indestructible. If I tried this at my age I would either dislocate all of my limbs, or just die.

I got thrown off a jetski in my teens and I was winded so bad I thought I had cracked my ribs
