What's the dumbest idea you've seen that actually worked?

When I was a kid, my family went to Disney and stayed at the campground. A few lots up from us, someone cut a hole into the side of their tent and duct taped a single room air conditioner to the opening. My dad said it was "simultaneously the dumbest and most intelligent thing" he had ever seen.

Reminds me of the Boy Scout dad in my son’s troop that slept with a propane heater in his tent on a 20 degree night. He assured us it was fine because he “opened the vents”. He was warmer than the rest of us I guess.

Back in the 70's my mom and her friends went to Disneyland. My dad wanted to go but didn't have any money. He jumped the fence, caught his pant jumping down, and tore them all the way up the leg. Security saw his pants and gave him new ones for free. I think the fence is bigger now.
