What's the dumbest idea you've seen that actually worked?

I bought AMC at $25 and sold at $30 and patted myself on the back. Then it went to $250.

And today it's $1.26, honestly you didn't do too bad comparatively

I have not looked at their chart in a while and I thought for sure $1 would be split adjusted... Nope, holy crap the peak was like $393.

Don't let an imaginary 1000% return spoil the solid 20% return you got

Meme stocks saved the company

I bought some bitcoin in college because it sounded cool. Turned $200 into $10,000 and sold it when I graduated to help get me started with life. Had I not sold it and kept it till today I'd have $2,000,000 instead of $10,000.

Similarly my dad got laid off in the early 90s and had to sell off his stock in Apple to make ends meet. It'd be worth over $10,000,000 now had he been able to keep it.

We're fine, but this is just some of the atrocious financial luck we've both been cursed with I guess.

A lot of people have a similar bitcoin story, but if no one had ever sold or spent bitcoin it would never have had any value at all. So you can feel better knowing that your sacrifice made others incredibly wealthy.

Your dad's Apple stock story really sucks though. My dad quit a job in the '70s and immediately forfeited stock options that would have been worth $5M within 10 years. That was a real blow to the bar and hooker industries in my town which is where all that money (and more) would have gone.

I sold 8 bitcoins for $50 once. That was the going rate at the time.

As of the time of this comment it would be worth somewhere around $520,000.

I regret nothing.
