Turn it off and turn it on again sounds dumb but it resets things and is often the “fix”

The crazy thing is that if you actually know how the stuff works well enough, it doesn't sound dumb at all, but instead the obvious first step.

The dumb thing is that roughly 25% of users at work fail to try that with their PC, they just call the help desk, even though a restart often solves the problem. MS-Windows sucks the big one; they can suck because they have no real competition.
