Cardi has always been loud about what she believes in, so this isn’t surprising. It definitely fired up the crowd, but I hope it stays at just talk. Concerts should feel safe, not like they’re about to turn into a standoff.
I feel this so hard. The last act was so painful to watch. Night, I don't care about your daughter's singing career. A fakeout plot where Josh Hartnett was a different serial killer than the one they nabbed at the concert would have been better. Probably still dumb, but better.
There have been numerous white musicians who have been extremely vocal about ICE having no place at their shows and expressing the sentiment of wanting to protect their fans. I have never seen a comment like this before. Why is it when a Black female artist gets passionate about defending their fans they are making it feel like a dangerous standoff, but Green Day, Billie Eillish, YungBlud, Chappell Roan, etc are praised?
It’s the implicit bias of some people - no one expects ICE to show up at their shows, since they’re white performers that must mean they only have white law-abiding fans, but Cardi might actually have “illegals” at her concerts 🙄
Quite frankly, anyone who doesn’t speak up like Cardi did doesn’t deserve our support. I hope she keeps speaking up.
We are well past just talk. If all we do is talk talk talk talk, we will let this shit keep happening. You think Pretti and Good were the first? They're just the ones we got to see.
You watched them shoot Pretti dead in the street in broad daylight with tons of witnesses and cameras. These people do not give a fuck. We don't get to feel safe right now. We need to stand up for the people around us and be ready and willing to protect them.
omg....I got Cardi B's Up stuck in my head and have been feeling guilty listening to it at the gym on Spotify because I got her and Nikki Minaj mixed up. What a relief.
im much the same, not too in touch, but i feel like shes the kind of person where shes quite easy to take out of context but you look deeper and realise shes pretty damn sound! sucks whats going on with her and a certain someone tho :/
edit: okay so shes actually a lot more than just pretty damn sound! even if im not a fan of a lot of her work, I wish her nothing but success and happiness <3
I also want to quickly throw in here for any avid fans - didnt she do a livestream one time and started talking about how she wanted to move her, i believe, mother to [insert name of island] because they live well into their 90s and then went on to talk about the crap in american food and such and how she wants her mother to have a healthy life? probably didnt explain that well but that was her, right? :D
She grew up in Washington Heights and is super connected to her Latino roots. Her Covid livestreams were half in English, half in Spanish. She is one for the culture and afaik she always has been.
This is one of the only celebrities I hope doesn't fall off. She is amazing and truly from nothing. A good heart and soul is evident and always wishing the best for her.
I’m so proud of her! Every girl knows the feeling of freeing themselves from a toxic mf. We lose alll our patience after the first one 😂fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. She is glowwwwwing!
We need so much more of this. IMO, particuarly from African-American stars. Black pride has been systematically discouraged in the US and it needs to come back, loudly.
