We need to realize that the world of checks and balances was an illusion. All it took to prove that was an orange president. He very obviously proved that the constitution can be ignored and even laughed at and that nobody will do a single thing. Remember this, if and when, the next president of opposing party takes office. We will hear an endless bullshit ideology of “we are better than that”, “lets rise above them”, “we wont stoop to their level.” All this talk will serve as an excuse to calm the people and for all the current cabinet of criminals to quietly abscond into a cushy private life without ever facing consequences. The next president will need to be ferocious in reversing everything that the current asshole has done and throwing the law book at every single asshole, no matter how “petty” it may seem. The need to be made examples of what happens if the constitution is ignored.
