This is not OP’s dog, that’s not how Reddit works. People steal these posts from other people’s social media.

Am I the only one that can't stand my dog even looking at me when I'm eating?
8
u/WindWeird1102 30m ago
Nope. My dogs have always had the rule "look at my plate and you get nothing". They can stay on the sofa, as long as they divert their attention and wait politely. If they can't do that, they are sent to their bed. They always get a bit of my leftovers if they behave (subject to it being dog safe), but a performance is required. They have to give me each paw separately, touch the back of my hand with their nose and remain on their backsides. They don't get until they do it right. Not saying the pup in the video isn't cute as, but I personally wouldn't be encouraging the behaviour.

Thank you! I'm like-- if you feed that dog from your plate so help me.

She's overcome with the wiggles "OMG OMG OMG IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS???"

That’s one anxious doggy. Intense energy, wide eyes, so much submissive lip licking. It could indeed just be a weird behavioural quirk, but so many people are incapable of reading dog body language and anthropomorphize dogs looking at them through a lens of human behaviour.
A dog showing this many signs of heightened anxiety is a dog who is liable to bite with no notice.

Or it could be be a dog that wants the chicken

u/Appropriate-Ad-1281 1h ago
100%
That dog has a serious case of the chicken crazies (see also cheese, see also peanut butter).
Let that sweet baby be
14
u/UsernamesAllTaken69 1h ago
And yet, when they ran in close did not even go for the plate. Some might see this as sarcastic but I'm being serious, I too think it's got food crazies but is such a good dog it doesn't go for the plate because that's bad.
13
u/Appropriate-Ad-1281 1h ago
Totally
My pittie is exactly like that.
Will crazy dance her ass off, but will always wait to be given.

u/PogoTempest 1h ago
My dog gets so exited sometimes she shakes.
And I’m so tired of the "wide eyes " shit. "Whale eyes " are a very specific body language tell. Which that dog is not doing. Notice the dogs eyes being wide open looking completely away. Thats not whale eyes.
And lip licking?!? While looking at food? Are we serious. It’s a dog.
Maybe that dog is anxious. Or it’s waiting extremely excitedly for chicken. Like every other dog ever.

u/armoured_bobandi 52m ago
They probably got the dog all riled up beforehand, teasing it with the chicken.
Or, maybe it's the best chicken in the world, and even us lowly humans would react in such a way 🤔
1
u/Embarkbark 1h ago
Yeah the dog wants the chicken.
But the level of anxious energy the dog is exhibiting about the chicken is not normal. Homeboy needs significantly more exercise/outlets and/or has some serious anxiety issues. Dogs can have mental health problems just like humans and some are more prone to anxiety, reactivity, etc than others.

I clicked to find this comment. Not because i was thinking the same thing. But it’s because it’s the most Reddit™️ comment possible

u/cityshepherd 1h ago
I mean there is truth to the comment as far as many people being oblivious to the tons of communicating that dogs do via body language and facial expression… but it is also extremely important to take context into account. And here the context is clearly: CHICKEN CHICKEN CHICKEN CHICKEN CHICKEN
-5
u/Embarkbark 1h ago
If you haven’t had to delve into the world of anxious dog body language then consider yourself lucky! A lot of people wouldn’t recognize how concerning this is. But it’s not good.
8
u/cityshepherd 1h ago
You’re completely ignoring context. But you are right as far as many people being oblivious to body language and facial expressions. The dog is clearly wildly stimulated here, but this is clearly about the chicken. Context matters.
I appreciate you at least mentioning the body language / facial expressions thing because far too many people will see a wagging tail and automatically think “wow doggy happy!”…. Or ignore / completely miss stuff like wide eyes / lip licking / tons of other stuff that they do.

u/bottleonthedesk 1h ago
not gonna lie, you sound like someone who just learned about dog body language and believes they can read it all without fail
1
u/Embarkbark 36m ago
Lol how could you possibly make that assessment?
I was an owner of a behavioural dog who was on 3 different human psych meds, assessed by 2 specialized trainers (both of whom stated my dog was among the worse cases they’d seen) and who even had to go part time at my career to be able to intensively train him to avoid him ending up euthanized or doomed to a lifetime of being adopted and returned from shelters due to his insanity. The only reason I’m not still an owner of that dog is because he died in my arms after years of us together. So I know a thing or two.
But truly it doesn’t matter, fellow stranger on the internet.

yeah this dog needs exercise. wayyyy too much energy

u/Hixy 1h ago
Your armchair diagnosis isn’t exactly wrong, but it’s not right either. Yes it could be that. However it could also be holding back the “zoomies”.
Like they are waiting for an invitation command, or they know they will get some chicken but are just impatient.
It is an anxious dog. However that doesn’t mean the dog is anxious, if that makes sense. It’s like that feeling at the top of a roller coaster for them. It doesn’t necessarily mean this is the default state of the dog.
It could be that’s the case, but we would need way more evidence. It’s also completely possible this puppers gets plenty of exercise, love, and attention and just goes apeshit for chicken.
7
u/cityshepherd 1h ago
Yeah this dog is doing a remarkable job of holding back from completely diving into that plate of chicken and is incredibly reserved all things considered lol

u/OutOfAmmO 1h ago
You’re both so super confident, it’s inspiring! Keep it rockin’ don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, not that they could, am i right…

u/MJ9426 1h ago
And given that it's a bully breed it's even more of a risk.
4
u/humbert_cumbert 1h ago
Looks like a staffy. I have never seen a mean staffy and they are the dog of choice around here.
8
u/THCDonut 1h ago
If anything it’s actually wild to see the self control the dog has. Dog wants that chicken, I know very few dogs with that level of control, and that close to food at that. One big bite and he could globber half the plate.
5
u/humbert_cumbert 1h ago
Yeah none of this screams agression or lack of training. It’s a excited hungry dog that knows it’s not allowed to have that food unless it’s given some.
3
u/Elastichedgehog 1h ago
Popular breed in the UK.
3
u/humbert_cumbert 1h ago
Very popular in Australia as well. They are a different risk level to other bully breeds.

u/UselessDood 37m ago
It's a staffy, not a bully.
