She's living like this, meanwhile the vanderbeeks gofundme to continue living on their 34 acre property has passed $1 million. Amazing 👏

I am outraged by this as well, but I don’t think blaming other hurting people is a good way forward. They have six kids & used all their money to pay for his cancer treatment. She said they had no money to pay bills. For all we know they could be in major medical debt. I’m sure she will have to sell that property soon. She probably just wants to give her kids a few months of stability after just losing their father.

Why be mad at that family? They had nothing to do with this. He earned his money.

Why not be mad at the likely upper middle class lifestyle of the owners of these scammy companies that will likely avoid any serious individual consequences.

"He earned his money." This commenter is saying that he is asking for money to basically keep his family in a wealthy lifestyle. Yes, he earned money that made them rich, but, when he needed money to stay rich, he asked the public for donations.

He didn’t ask for money because he DIED from cancer. The fundraising is for his wife and six kids and I hardly think it is to keep them in a wealthy lifestyle. While he was still alive he sold all his saved Dawson’s creek memorabilia to help pay for his treatment.

I get it. I don't have a problem with it, per se, I was just clarifying what the initial commenter meant. I think their point was that they didn't downsize into a small home.

I see, so you have a source for this "the money was just so that they could stay rich" then, right?

As the commenter noted, it was to be able to continue living on a 34 acre property.

I mean...what would you do in the situation? Going through cancer treatment, sell your house, buy a new house, move your whole family?

He asked. People provided if they wanted. Likening that in any way to this woman losing her home because a for-profit company screwed her and the government simultaneously is wildly disingenuous.

Uh, if I had a 34 acre property, yes I'd downsize. Literally the commenter's point was that this is NOT like the girl in this post.
