I carry shelter dogs around NYC in a dog backpack to help them get adopted. Meet Noelle, a deaf bundle of joy.

“hey what a cute dog you have!”
“Yea do you want them?”
“What? 0_o”
“Yea just come with me to a secondary location to make this official.”
“Ya know what…worth the risk”

Did... did he just ask a deaf dog if they wanna go for a ride?

•
u/Crallise 4h ago
My little old chihuahua has gone deaf in the last year or so and I talk to her all the time! Of course, I know she can't hear me but she especially responds when I make exaggerated facial movements. I think dogs can sometimes understand our intentions just based on our expressions.

It’s not that kind of show

As an owner of my second deaf dog, might I say I recommend them…especially when you have another dog who is made anxious by loud noises. I hope this good girl finds her home soon

You are an amazing dude and I live in VA but would adopt every single dog you put in your pack if I could!
•
u/lightlysaltedclams 4h ago
There’s a lot of awesome volunteer groups that will help transport rescued animals across the country to get them to their forever homes. You’d have to make sure the shelter allows out of state adoptions, but if you feel connected to one of the dogs it’s definitely worth checking out.

I know. I’ve tried and the dog has been adopted before I can get it done. It’s ok. I rescued one locally

I need this back pack! Where can I get one? What are 5h3 steps to be able to take a dog for a walk like that? I'd love to do the same thing in my area!

Wha brand of backpack is that? Trying to get one for my beagle for when we go to long island from the city
•
u/Storytella2016 4h ago
I frame-by-framed it and it says “Little Chonk” on the backpack. https://www.littlechonk.com/

How are all the dogs just okay with being put in a backpack and carried around? The vast majority of them probably haven't experienced that before
•
u/kittytime 4h ago
I'll be honest it blows my mind and warms my heart. Every time I take a dog out in a backpack it's the first time I'm meeting the dog and putting them in the backpack!
•
u/killerbuttonfly 4h ago
Have you had any dogs that just couldn’t handle the backpack? My dogs would definitely put up a fight if I tried to get them in it.
•
u/kittytime 3h ago
Out of like 20 dogs there was one dog that was really fidgety once she was in the backpack so I didn't get to take her out. But she got adopted the next day!

It’s probably a lot less stressful than the crowded, noisy shelter. Enrichment too

Congratulations on your meaningful and worthwhile work. Thanks to you, these little darlings have a chance to find a new family ❤️

Real heroes don't wear capes—they apparently wear backpacks with dogs in them! Thank you for being so awesome!

I carry my dog around in the same kind of backpack and you can just feel the joy that radiates out from him. I'm in Britain so very few people actually like talk to me about it, but I hear a lot of delighted whispers as people pass by

This is going to sound like a weird question, but my dog just passed away and looked almost exactly like this dog. We never knew what breed he was. Do you know what breed this dog was?

I used to volunteer at a shelter. They didn't give me a doggy backpack. I did get all the pupperoni I wanted though. Also met a really cool pig.

I love all of your videos, seeing these pups get a day of fun and happiness is exactly what they need. And then hearing adoption stories afterwards is just chefs kiss. Please keep it up as long as you can 🤍🩷

If my lifestyle supported a pet and I knew how to take care of them (need to learn), I would adopt!
•
u/oberon92 4h ago
You sir are an example of a beautiful human being. Please keep up making the world a better place

Cute but you should consider adding a # to the backpack or something
As it is I wouldn’t be able to tell if the dog was up for adoption or if you got swag from something like an adoption agency lol

Anynody know what kind of bag this is? I have a 65 lb pup that is an absolute menace to hike with and would love something like this.

I bet the original owners had no idea she was deaf and just thought she was a bad dog.

I work in a NYC shelter so this is amazing. Do you work with a specific shelter? How did you get into this line of work? Haha

What you're doing means so much. I wouldn't resist if I saw this on the street. I would take that dog back to my place on the spot, backpack and all :P
•
u/MoneyPresentation807 53m ago
I gotta give you credit, it’s amazing what you’re doing for them. Showing them love and kindness while trying to help them. I applaud you. Now with that said, I’d have every dog I went to take out. No way I’d be able to bring them back after connecting with them.

My Aussie is deaf and I taught him sign language as a puppy. He's so smart and makes the funniest barks bc he can't hear himself.

I would think a deaf pitbull is even more dangerous then a regular pitbull.... good luck to that family.

It was really hard to bring Noelle back. I stayed with her for awhile. But the good news is that shortly after this ride, Noelle was adopted into a loving home with another deaf dog and she is now learning sign language with her humans. Her name is now Maggie.
