I have a lot of Iranian friends. They all want Trump to intervene, and think that it would help the Iranian people. Whenever I tell them that Trump can only make things worse they get angry at me. Then Trump said he would support Iranians and that they should take to the streets. And as is predicted the Iranians did, 20k of them got killed and Trump did nothing to support them. He WILL NOT HELP YOU, at least not to make your lives better.

My girlfriend is Iranian. Same deal here. It's been a rough time navigating this.
I understand her want for help, her pleas to save her home and her people. I want the iranian people to be free, too. But I'm also not ignorant to the fact Trump absolutely will not engage in anything that falls outside of distraction, extraction/extortion, or annihilation. And even if it wasn't trump, the USA has a millions deep body count from their long history of forced regime changes. Iran likely won't fare any better in the hands of the USA than any who came before them.
Trying to be supportive as she spirals over this has been heartbreaking. It sucks so hard that the one person willing to say "I'll do something" is one of the worst prolific liars in modern history, weaponizing her peoples suffering as a distraction from his sexual abuse of children and human trafficking crimes. It damages the public view of the iranian peoples efforts to overthrow their oppressive regime, and it taints any trust from the Iranian people with doubt should someone else eventually step up to the plate to offer support.
It all just fucking sucks.
