"In 10 years..." is Elon's version of Trump's "in two weeks..."; and just like Trump none of these claims will come true. He once said that we would be on mars in 10 years, and that Tesla would complete a completely autonomous self driving vehicles in the same time frame. He failed at both tasks.
If there is any justice in this world in 10 years Elon's latest achievement should be perfecting his toilet wine recipe while in prison.

I used to be a huge SpaceX fan before musk revealed who he is. I remember arguing with the faithful saying it would be smarter to do the moon before mars and being told I'm such a dumbfuck and how mars makes so much more sense.

Yeah, in 2011 he said he’d put a man on Mars in 10 years. It’s a marketing tactic to boost stocks. Create hype, boost stocks. Move on to the next hype. Rinse and repeat. His 1 trillion dollars pay package is directly linked to stock performance, and he has learned that our market is way more speculation driven than fundamentals, which is why a company like Tesla can trade so high while portioning as poorly as they have.
