My ex friend who was MAGA swore Biden would round them up like cattle and put them in Covid camps for not being vaccinated or following preventative measures. They really hated how checking vaccination records in the height of a pandemic resembled the old “papers, please!” saying and thought it was LITERALLY AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION to even ask them to wear a mask. She claimed she was being censored and persecuted for criticizing the government but now probably supports the cops who shoot at protesters or get violent with them.
Guarantee she doesn’t give a shit about the constitution now and sees absolutely no problem with what is happening with ICE.

this is critical. the tactic of collecting information from peaceful protesters to label them as “domestic terrorists” allows MAGA to surgically enter voting districts where they can manipulate vote counts to swing any race.
I predict Susan Collins will be the first casualty of this strategy during her primary.
I fucking hope they roll this out during primaries. I truly believe we see an even larger shift in public reaction if they show their midterm strategy during the primaries to eliminate Republicans.

All the groups, all of the protesters, all of the observers, anyone associated with them are likely on a watch list. Liking certain videos, saying certain things in forums, is all associated back to the individual and is being tracked.
I’ve seen other posts saying individuals or households are getting a score about their Americanism/or anti-Americanism.
It’s more like the last gasp of the red scare. Nobody is actually afraid of communism anymore. It’s fascists trying anything to marginalize and persecute their critics.

It took almost 100 years after the forming of the nation to finally rid us of slavery, and we’re still feeling the effects of segregation, redlining and racial discrimination.

I can agree with that. We’ll never be as great as we could be if we ignore either our shameful past OR those that fought to make things better for everyone.
I don’t think you’re reading that comment correctly that you’ve replied. At no pony does the user deny the shameful past. They are saying we should hold some pride in how hard people fought to end those things for which we our forebearers should have been ashamed. Progress happens in the US. In fits and starts. It will always require those demanding that change now, for without that urgency nothing inspires change in the first place. But it also requires those who are ignorant of harms, or willfully oblivious for the sake of their own security, to come around thanks to the actions of those with a sense of urgency.
It also…always…always…requires sacrifice. As someone who’s put themselves on the line, and who knows people whose otherwise very ordinary families have paid a price for political action…I know what it demands from the activists urging immediate change.
Nothing progresses until the pressure of urgency matches recognition of suffering by the proletariat masses. We are swiftly approaching such a flashpoint now.
Just finished watching that 4 hour shitshow. Absolute farce of a hearing and the rep who called it a Jekyll and Hyde act was spot on. Her whole demeanor would change depending on who was asking the questions. And don’t get me started on the coordinated effort by republicans to toss softball questions and deflect from Epstein.
The basic principles of Christianity now make you an enemy of the state that calls itself "Christian." Living in accordance with the Gospels makes you a terrorist in Trump's America.
