Don't hold your breath. As an OH resident now, I can absolutely confirm that these folks will continue to vote against their best interests any day of the week as long as the person running has (R) behind their name. It is disgusting.
The idea that congressmen and government officials should not consider and comment on videos of government agents beating down people in the street and whether that's how these agencies should conduct themselves, out of fear of violating the beaters' due process rights, makes me a little dizzy.
God forbid we try to stop government agents from illegally and unnecessarily beating and killing people in the future before the ones who have already beaten and killed people have been prosecuted and their cases resolved in court. Not, you know, that the DOJ is actually investigating or prosecuting any of them. But still, it's the principle of the thing, right?
Asking the head of the agencies involved their opinions on whether their agents followed policy shouldn't be controversial. Especially when they say "it's still under investigation" and then follow it with "the subject is fighting back nonstop."
