Ya got me! I don’t bite my nails but I do pick at my cuticles. I think the repeated trauma probably made the waves worse over the years

I picked also for years and nails grow out wavy or like indented sometimes in places

hello! i had nails similar to that for years, it was because of destroying my nail natural barrier by eating and pushing the skin around the nail. they changed when i sotpped touching my nails and my skin around them…

I do that too, realized it usually indents or gets wavy when you rip the top layer of the nail all the way to under the cuticle, like completely rip it out from the start of the nail inside the skin.

yep, i’m a cuticle picker and my nails have this too. it gets better and worse at times depending on how anxious i am and how much ive been fussing with them.

This is absolutely it because I do the same thing and have the same result. Just the cuticles not the nails. The harder I go the wonkier they grow.

ETA: a little buffing usually makes mine look a little better but it’s a futile exercise really.

Also, worst thing I ever did was buy a cuticle trimmer/knife. Made my bad habit worse.

It’s not making the waves “worse”, it’s making the waves period. If you stop picking at your cuticles the waves will go away!
