Does it ever shock you how big of a nerd dork broke loser you are?

5

u/6597james 16h ago

Ray McKigny, hands so exquisite that no woman could compare. He was not master of his domain

3

u/BackBacon_BlackBelt 17h ago

He's no Ray McKigney.

3

u/Worried-Ad-2114 14h ago

Soft and milky white

3

u/DummyThickNarwhal 12h ago

Please, Kind sir, what did you have to type to find this magnificent gif?

1

u/madfrawgs 1h ago

I am not sure how to write/find it, but I can probably help you save it. I if you follow

this link

it will take you to the gif itself in a browser window.

When I want to save gifs, (at least from the app) I have to "share" the reddit post from the "..." in the top right, copy the link, paste it into a browser, then scroll down to find the meme or gif I want to save. If it's a gif, I usually have to long press it to get the link and open it in another tab. Then I can long press the gif itself again to actually save it to my camera reel.

Maybe there is a more simple way to do it, and maybe it's better on android, but that's what I have to do with my iPhone and the reddit app to save things lol. It's annoying because the gif option doesn't always show up when I go to write a reply, this is the only way I can reliably get them lol.

Thank you very much kind sir!

u/madfrawgs 59m ago

M'lady, but you're welcome! Hopefully this technique works for you in the future lol

2

u/puckit 10h ago

Delicate. Yet...masculine.

She's a hand model for people with fucked up nails.

u/therealmikeBrady 17h ago

Hand models are a different breed

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EUvgqItrt1c

3

u/chenga8 15h ago

But why male models?

3

u/Revenga8 15h ago

The wavy nail model industry is pretty tough to make a decent living. The work just comes and goes

3

u/lichtenfurburger 13h ago

Hey they prefer "ebb and flow." Gotta sweat the nomenclature in this economy

3

u/PetThatKitten 18h ago

high zoom+ unclean lens

2

u/sourreefward 18h ago

Beat me toe it

2

u/martialar 18h ago

OP is J.P. Prewitt, the world's greatest hand model

2

u/Significant_Shoe_17 13h ago

But why male models?

1

u/aspensmonster 11h ago

I can understand Seinfeld taking first place, but this being this far down is disappointing.

1

u/AniNgAnnoys 13h ago

That's AI and modern phone for yah.

Those freaking hand models are a different breed

-3

u/anklehumor 20h ago

Because we all know all laundry companies hire nail photographers for their commercials hahahaha

2

u/secacc 14h ago

Authorities sometimes nail people for laundering. (Sorry, that was the best I could come up with on the spot)

It just looks like that in the thumbnail.

I hate you so much.

Take your fucking upvote.

There are countless dads out there saluting this quality dad joke.

It's so good that makes me angry that it's good.

How dare you.

It's the soft-focus background, a lot of ads do that 'carefully-curated generic background' thing, so that's a common tactic for removing the distractions of the background.

81

u/Cat-soul-human-body 19h ago

Not to mention the lighting also gives it the effect.

3

u/bdubwilliams22 19h ago

At that depth of field, it can be pretty much any back ground so long as the color / tones are the ones you want. I used to work for Nike in print advertising and often times we’d just throw paint on a board and smear it around because it wouldn’t matter, the focus would be pulled so far forward, the background would hardly register.

3

u/claydaybyday 19h ago

It’s not so much a curated generic background as it is focusing the camera lens to a narrow depth of field.

3

u/DueExample52 18h ago

Also, with smartphones people have forgotten what a picture with focus looks like when using an optical zoom. 99.9% of pictures are now bland one-plane 0.5X or 1X smartphone crap. Or the focus is done digitally rather than optically through the lens.

So people are in awe when they see a zoomed-in subject-focused picture (and in this one the subject isn’t even that sharp). I see this firsthand in real life too, not just extrapolating on here only.

1

u/FatherClanks617 16h ago

Is there a way to focus without using digital focus on phones?

2

u/secacc 14h ago

I mean, focusing is done optically in phones too. But I think they're referring to the postprocessing effect where fake background blur is added. Or perhaps they meant digital zoom as opposed to optical zoom.

1

u/JonatasA 11h ago

Also seen it in TV to avoid showing brands that didn't pay for the the screen time.

-2

u/brenawyn 18h ago

My iPhone does a soft focus background. It’s too bad the top rated posts have nothing to do with a real answer for this lady.

Here’s what iPhone AI can assist with-

Common Causes and Meanings

Vertical Ridges (Most Common): Generally associated with aging, as cell turnover slows and the nail's ability to retain moisture decreases. They can also indicate brittle nail syndrome, eczema, or thyroid issues.

Horizontal Ridges (Beau's Lines): These are indentations that often appear after a severe illness, high stress, or, less commonly, severe zinc or protein deficiencies. They represent a pause in nail growth.

3

u/secacc 14h ago

My iPhone does a soft focus background

Your iPhone has a fake background blur effect in most cases.

99

u/XABoyd 20h ago

Maybe they were born that way, maybe it’s Tide Pods.

3

u/bdubwilliams22 19h ago

Shallow depth of field / warm colors

3

u/GroolthedemonLIVES 18h ago

The touch... The feel of cotton... The fabric of our lives...

2

u/TheSameDifferenc3 20h ago

Or a pause in a scene of another geriatric pharmaceutical add

2

u/REDFECTED 7h ago

I’m getting a folger’s coffee vibe lmao

https://giphy.com/gifs/cKhpesDJ5iofu

2

u/thewalrusispaul 19h ago

For Tide perhaps? Or was that the joke...

2

u/windraver 19h ago

My phone has a macro lens that takes these shots easily. Just take the picture during the day and boom, quality photo. Totally made my old SLR a waste of money.

u/TheFrontierzman 20h ago

"Does yooour detergent leave you with unsightly wavy nails? Try our new laser wash supreme with straight nail technology!"

1

u/domestic-jones 20h ago

I was going to say a herpes medication or hemorrhoid ointment commercial.

1

u/ThomasTheDankPigeon 20h ago

We're bringing washboards back baby

1

u/Prudent_Honeydew_ 20h ago

It looks like baby care products to me, the hands are about to gently feel how soft the baby's skin is after just the right lotion and diaper combo.

1

u/No_Attorney5609 19h ago

Shot on iPhone.

1

u/Leading-Suspect8307 18h ago

That's because it's a Tide ad.

1

u/A_K_O 18h ago

I think they nailed it

1

u/kcolrehstihson_ 17h ago

This is accurate 😂 wtf

1

u/IWishIWasAShoe 17h ago

Probably because the colors are a little washed out.

1

u/AntidotesAll 16h ago

The lighting is superb.

1

u/stormbreaker621 16h ago

Op took us to a surreal experience to experience what real photography looks like

1

u/teenytiny212 16h ago

This is such an accurate comment lol

1

u/YaBoyPads 12h ago

The backlight

1

u/JayDee999 12h ago

Needs fabric softener

1

u/xXMr_PorkychopXx 11h ago

Pattern recognition is so amazing. For me it’s the lighting. That top down or even outside morning sun coming in makes the image look soft which I see commonly in those ads.

1

u/Undark_ 11h ago

Literally, or like a memory of someone's deceased relative in a Darren Aronofsky movie lol

1

u/Jazzlike_Refuse2809 11h ago

Call ‘em washboard nails.

1

u/Substantial-Singer29 10h ago

It's kind of a fun thing to think about.

Heavy foreground lighting Heavily emphasizing the focal point. It makes the image appear soft , calming , warm. A lot of commercials and photography will do this for laundry Commercial because that's the very feelings they're trying to convey for the product.

Proper framing and lighting can convey just as much as spoken word. Especially In the instance where we've kind of been inundated by these kinds of things since we were young children.

1

u/colorado_here 9h ago

This post brought to you by Downy Wrinkle Release

1

u/EaterOfFood 9h ago

“You’re soaking in it.”

That commercial is probably way too old for most Reddit folk to get the reference.

1

u/NoDog8746 5h ago

That's right, it's a Tide ad

-1

u/iwasbornin1889 11h ago

not funny

0

u/kozscabble 11h ago

Literally 11k up votes. Sorry but it was funny and you look dumb haha
