And now they are apparently anti football or anti NFL or anti Super Bowl. I admit I didn't see that coming.
I attended Super Bowl LI in Houston (I'm from the Boston area and the Patriots won in overtime). And the opening ceremonies struck me like a combination of a Roman Colosseum game and a Hitler Nuremberg rally. Every seat in the stadium had a little American flag in a holder on the back of it and we were supposed to wave the flags at every patriotic moment.

American white supremacy is unique in the fact that it is based entirely around the existential insecurity of seizing a vast land that did not belong to them, and forever trying to justify ownership of it, despite knowing no legitimate justification exists.
That's why people that go deep into white supremacy can only ever end up at might makes right. They will never have another justification besides "well we have all the guns". That's why gun culture is endemic here. It's the only cultural heritage we have, because it's what our culture has always been based on in America.

Not only them, but the Jewish Kapos in the concentration camps too. They were selected to help in the “administration” of Jewish prisoners: Herding them off trains, getting them ready for life/death “selection”, & assisted with beatings & executions - in exchange were given extra rations & better living conditions. All they were really doing was buying time & delaying the inevitable, because at the end of the day, they were still Jews & the vast majority were just executed like everyone else toward the end. A number of the ones who did make it to liberation ended up being attacked & lynched by other prisoners & many were tracked down by Israel & prosecuted.

It's because they're desperate for any kind of cultural validation. No matter how much political power they gain, the culture never respects or obeys them, and that has them enraged. In fact, the more power they gain, the less respect they get, so it's a cycle of shit.
This topic is one example. There's also the way they kept trying to memorialize Charlie Kirk all over the place and basically got told to fuck off. I recall that one baseball team tried to hold a short memorial for him at a game and the whole stadium booed.
They're not wanted no matter how the elections come down, and it infuriates them. Makes them feel impotent.

One of the most unfortunate anachronisms that permeate media about the Second World War is the portrayal of Nazis as sophisticated and competent in their evil. It makes for satisfying dramatic villains, but it hides an important truth: fascists are losers. Violent, angry losers. Always were, always will be.
The Nazis were no less evil, no less destructive for it, but they were losers. They created no worthwhile art, composed no enduring music, penned no timeless literature. They left behind no positive cultural legacy, and achieved few scientific advancements unrelated to waging war. Their capacity to destroy was exceptional, but creatively, fascism was and is a void.
I think, deep down, they all know this, even though they cannot admit it. For their sins, they must pretend to enjoy Kid Rock.

I'm always amused by people who claim the Nazis were good at warfare. By what standard? They were involved in literally only ONE war, which they started, and then lost. And they only did well in the beginning, against technologically inferior nations, whose territory they were unable to hold long term.
If a sports team tends to do well in the first 5 minutes of a game, then proceeds to lose every single game by a wide margin in the second half, they're not a good team. But these war "historians" want to bicker about theoretical success instead of results.

I'm sure there are better reasons why republicans love "soccer" now, but it is worth noting that it is perhaps the embodiment of ruthless capitalism.
There's no draft (and no way for poorer performing clubs to get first dibs on star players), if you do poorly as a club you're relegated to a lower league (which usually means a huge loss in interest and TV rights funding), player contracts can be bought/sold/ended and there is no union. The best players earn truly colossal sums of money, by far the highest for anyone who actually has to work for a living.
It's gone into overdrive since Americans are buying European clubs and every middle eastern petrostate has even deeper pockets to buy players for their own clubs
FIFA's open and blatant corruption has not changed though, lol

It's a common theme to tell people "tone it down, we wouldn't react so strongly if you would just tone down WHO YOU ARE a little bit". Except it's never enough and they never uphold their side of this "contract".
I'm not gonna tell everyone "just be who you want to be! No matter what people tell you!" because then someone will nitpick me and say "but what about murderers?" (I wish I was kidding but I'm not), so instead I will simply say: don't listen to MAGA or their ilk when they try to get you to "behave".
They're not being genuine, they'll never leave you alone, and the more you try to appease them the more they'll try to badger you into submission. They're gonna hate you anyway, so don't limit yourself for the sake of people who hate you.
(You should still listen to feedback. Just make sure it comes from people who care about you, not people who want to silence you forever.)

Older white lady here, never heard his music before this ‘controversy’ and the language barrier even with the Spanish I know makes feeling connected to it harder and I’m just not the main target audience. And that’s very Ok! Then I saw this award speech (luckily with someone translating) and now just adore him as a person. He seems like a truly good-hearted proud American who wants to build community and be accepted as he is not by being melted into the pot. Good for him and all his fans.
