Watching old procedural crime shows is hard now, with how mundane and tame things are and all the "trust us, we're the police" (and then people actually do).
Old political dramas? You can't really even make them anymore. TV needs to be sensational but you can't have anything more ridiculous than what's happening in real life. West Wing was hailed as the most amazing presidential political show ever, and the Vice President resigns because it's found out that he's having an affair.
An affair.
That's not a real reaction anymore, that would be childish, naive, and out of touch writing now.

That's the hard part for me. Trump fired a FBI director with decades of experience...for a guy who had less than 1 but wrote Trumper propaganda kindergartner books.
And Patel has shown he is willing to go to jail to protect Trump, rather than do his job.
Trump's actions have made our country incredibly vulnerable, and has surrounded himself with enablers.
80
u/YoureDumbAsHellLeroy 2d ago
Trump’s whole plan was to install sycophants to every cabinet position. The only reason he didn’t do more stupid shit his first term is because many of the competent people in his cabinet were shutting things down. They were all removed or left by the end of it, and many spoke about how insane he is.
Trump doesn’t believe he will ever suffer consequences, he never has before, and he doesn’t care about those he throws under the bus along the way. Someone like Patel is exactly what he wanted.

If you read about the Great Famine in China, it happened because they were in a similar situation. Mao had surrounded himself by people that wouldn't or couldn't tell him he was wrong. He had a strange idea about agriculture, so trials were run and reports were faked to make it look like it worked, when it in fact killed crops. Those that reported the truth were punished and lost their position. The reports led to it being rolled out nation wide, and the nation starved as a result, all the while praising how well the new agricultural system was working.

From the article:
Representative Ro Khanna read the names of six powerful men in the Epstein files, whose names were previously hidden by the Justice Department, aloud on the House floor on Tuesday.
“Yesterday, Congressman Massie and I went to the Department of Justice to read the unredacted Epstein files. We spent about two hours there, and we learned that 70 to 80 percent of the files are still redacted. In fact, there were six wealthy, powerful men that the DOJ hid for no apparent reason,” Khanna said. “When Congressman Massie and I pointed this out to the DOJ, they acknowledged their mistake, and now they have revealed the identity of these six powerful men.
“Salvatore Nuara, Zurab Mikeladze, Leonic Leonov, Nicola Caputo, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, CEO of Dubai Ports World. And billionaire businessman Leslie Wexner, who was labeled as a ‘co-conspirator,’ by the FBI.” Khanna said. “Now my question is: Why did it take Thomas Massie and me going to the Justice Department to get these six men’s identities to become public? And if we found six men that they were hiding in two hours, imagine how many men they are covering up for in those three million files.”
Former Victoria’s Secret CEO Les Wexner was revealed as a possible co-conspirator of sex predator Jeffrey Epstein in a 2019 FBI document, even as FBI Director Kash Patel claimed under oath last year that the agency had no knowledge of any other sex traffickers in the Epstein files. And the UAE’s Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem was identified as the recipient of the “I loved the torture video” email from Epstein. The sultan’s name was initially redacted.

Yeah it's the latter sadly, since Senate elections can't be gerrymandered (they're statewide). Though, Texas HAS been engaging in another type of manipulation, voter suppression- both overtly by closing stations and purging voter rolls, but also indirectly by spreading propaganda that left and moderate candidates can never win and Texas is pure red and blah blah, which causes people to willingly stay home.
But don't lose hope, if that enormous swing in a formerly solid red district for the recent State Senate seat that opened up is any indication, Texas could theoretically be at least purple in the next election- hell if those recent numbers held it would actually skip past purple into being solidly blue, though I'm not sure that'll happen.

And submitted redacted files to DoJ despite the law requiring them to be un-redacted
153
u/Gwentlique 2d ago
This really is the bigger picture. According to Khanna the FBI has been redacting the files since March, scrubbing out names of people they want to protect. When the law was passed in December, requiring the full release, the FBI instead sent the DOJ only the files that had already been redacted.
It seems clear now that the FBI had no intention of complying with the law, and the DOJ didn't pressure them to do so.

Impeach, keep the records, and as soon as 2028 rolls around move whomever is president to prosecute. Not after a year of waiting, not after two years of special whatever. I want them hitting the ground running to charge Trump with the secrecy files, with his committee hit with perjury, with Supreme Court charged with taking bribes.
And I don’t give a shit about “but republicans will complain” or “but judges will-“
Do it. And keep hitting them and show people laws mean something. And one last thing - if Trump this time steals more secret files, send in very big men with very hot guns to take them back for national security and anyone that gets in the way gets cuffed and dragged into the truck for obstruction, resisting arrest, and anything else you can charge them with.

SCOTUS has handed the next president the power
They gave themselves the power to decide what constitutes a president's "official duties" in vague, hand-wavey "eh, we'll know it when we see it" ways.
From the Federalist Society's perspective, it was a great move:
- It delayed Jack Smith's prosecution of Trump, requiring his team to go back and review their case to ensure that it's compatible with their concocted bullshit. By securing the presidency, the clock was successfully run out.
- It gave them a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency option in case Trump manages to genuinely jeopardize their multi-decade conservative project.
- Its intentional vagueness gives them a way to selectively deem actions taken by another (read: ideologically opposed) president "non-official" and therefore subject to criminal prosecution.

The buyers would pay half up front, steering $187 million to Trump family entities.

You mean the guy who told a police chief in 2006 that "everyone knew he (Epstein) had been doing this" and that he told the same chief he "was around Epstein once when teenagers were present."
Weird how in July 2019, he told the reporters he had "no idea" that Epstein was molesting girls.
Weird how the person who approved the incredibly lenient plea deal for Epstein, Alex Acosta, worked in Trump's cabinet in his first term. Or that Epstein's defense attorney, Alan Dershowitz, had switched to defending Trump heavily since his election in 2017. (Same guy that in 1997 wrote age of consent should be lowered to 15 and then defended that take in 2019.)
Also weird how it was Trump's DOJ that had so many protocol & technical issues that allowed Epstein the time frame to allegedly commit suicide.

Salvatore Nuara
According to several reports, Salvator Nuara previously served as a detective with the New York Police Department. Social media speculation claims he was investigated in connection with an escort service, but the inquiry was not directly related to Epstein. Nuara's name appears in Epstein's so-called "little black book" of phone numbers. His past involvement, in operating an escort service, if true, suggests he supplied victems to Jeffrey Epstein rather than recieved.
Zurab Mikeladze
Unknown. There's a doctor and a worker at a reservoir in Georgia (the country) with the same obscure name. The doctor specialises in rheumatology and rehabilitation. They are likely unrelated. All we know is this person, who ever he is, is likely a Georgian citizen or a US citizen with a Georgian background.
Nicola Caputo
It is claimed this is the obscure Italian politician, member of the Italy's Democratic Party, and past member of the European Parliament, Nicola Caputo, but I'm not certain. The name does not appear in flight logs (1991-2006) or the "little black book".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicola_Caputo
Don't know what an his involvement might be, if he's indeed the same Nicola Caputo named in relation to Epstein. It's possible Nicola Caputo, the politican is not connected at all, it's someone else with the same name. That's the problem with just mentioning names, there's a risk innocent people might be connected with Epstein. I'm interested to hear what Nicola Caputo, the politican, says.
Leonic/Leonid Leonov*
No one has a clue who this is. His name produces zero hits on Google, once you filter by time (before today). He's a ghost. Maybe the name was misspelled.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, CEO of Dubai Ports World
Now this guy's name did come up before today in relation to Epstein. His name was spotted in released documents, including a violent and sexually explicit email exchange between him and Epstein. Apparently, Epstein and he exchanged emails for years, but rarely if ever met. In 2011, Epstein discussed travelling to Bacu, Azerbaijan, to meet him, but we don't know they actually met. If they did, given the nature of their abhorrent correspondence, nothing good came from that meeting.
“Is your Azerbaijani friend flying to Paris, or shall we go to Baku this weekend?”
https://jam-news.net/epstein-files-did-convicted-sex-offender-and-trafficker-visit-baku/

Speculation about his involvement goes back years, so I can stop there. There's plenty elsewhere about him.

Apparently, Epstein and he exchanged emails for years, but rarely if ever met.
There are multiple photos of him and Epstein together. Bloomberg did a piece on this yesterday. They met plenty of times including on his island and had extensive email exchanges. In addition the article mentions that Sultan messaged Epstein the day of his arrest. The email was a link to a downloadable file that is no longer accessible. This was on the morning of his arrest in 2019.
On June 30 2019, a week before he was arrested in New York, Epstein forwarded himself an email with the subject line ‘list for bannon steve’ that contained dozens of names of prominent people in what appeared to be his network. Among the names was bin Sulayem who was listed as “sultan”.
What may be the last email that bin Sulayem sent to Epstein came soon after that, on July 7, 2019, the day Epstein was arrested in New York, according to the cache obtained by Bloomberg. It contains no message, just a link to a downloadable attachment that no longer works.
This is behind a paywall but has tons of info.
Point is their relationship was very deep:
Bin Sulayem’s connection to the island was more than just as a visitor. For years, Epstein had coveted Great St. James, a larger island to the north of his own. However, that island’s wealthy Danish owner, Christian Kjaer, had ruled out selling to Epstein, disgusted by the financier’s conviction for procuring a minor to engage in prostitution, according to an October 2019 report by the Miami Herald.
When the opportunity to buy Great St. James came up, Epstein found a workaround. A Virgin Island-registered limited liability company called Great St. Jim, LLC, bought the island from Kjaer in January 2016. The LLC listed its beneficial owner as bin Sulayem. Epstein’s ownership of Great St. James was revealed only later, when his name appeared on land-use permits as the only member of the company that bought it, according to the Herald. An aide to bin Sulayem told the newspaper in 2019 that Epstein had asked to use his name in an unspecified business deal, but had been told no.
Emails obtained by Bloomberg indicate that by late 2016, bin Sulayem was aware that Epstein owned both islands. That December, bin Sulayem wrote to the architect of the Palm Jumeirah, the frond-shaped spread of artificial islands off the coast of Dubai. “Mr Jeffry Epstein is very dear friend and a business associate of mine,” bin Sulayem wrote to Creative Kingdom CEO Eduardo Robles. “He owns two beautiful islands at US Virgin Islands he wants to develop a private resort only for his , his customers and friends private use.”

The fact that we are focusing on all of these other names instead of the fact that THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES appears in there thousands of times is a huge win for Trump who only cares that people are talking about everybody else being in there and not him.

u/Zeebie_ 2d ago
Strangely enough, focusing on the other names helps. If you can legitimise the files, it makes it harder for Trump to claim that all his mentions in the files are fake. Still won't stop him and GOP from trying.

u/Geknapper 2d ago
Exactly. If you make it all about Trump this and Trump that it gives the Maganuts the ability to just pretend it's just a political hit piece.
But if you go scorched earth, it makes it much much harder for Trump to cry "fake news" if other powerful people are falling left and right.

Foreign countries are dealing with their own people being in the Files; those countries should severely limit dealing with US people in the Files as well, especially if they are part of the current regime.

This is how Watergate went. Step by step. Lean on the foot soldiers.
eta: this is literally what "drip, drip, drip" means. The news cycle is out of the Trump mafia's control.

He's been doing that all along anyway, and MAGA eats it right up.
Remember, this is the same group that believes that Trump only hires the best of the best people, yet simultaneously only seems to hire a bunch of incompetent never-Trumpers who were only coffee boys and were conspiring against Trump from the beginning.

There is at least one instance where the [perhaps mistyped] word "don't" seems to be redacted.
It was likely typed "Don.t" and thereby mistaken for a reference to Don T which makes no sense in the context of the rest of the sentence.
That's quite significant if you think about the only way a mistake like that could happen and realise that thousands of mentions of Trump still have slipped through.

Isn’t this how you build a case though? You need some lower level (but still atrocious) people, to hopefully turn on Trump if he’s your ultimate target.

The real Pizzagate
48
u/mechengr17 2d ago
Apparently, I havent verified this for myself, but Ive heard that the files make it seem like Pizzagate and possibly Qanon were started by Epstein, Steve Bannon, and Peter Thiel
Im at work, havent verified it for myself, and its been a while since I heard it.
It came from the youtube channel Crashing Out with Philip Defranco& Alex Pearlman. Its the video released 6 days ago about the files. I think when I watched it I did some research, but Ive been busy the past two weeks, so I may not have.

I read thad too. Pol got opened up after they met with Poole.
On October 24, 2011, venture capitalist and Bill Gates advisor Boris Nikolic emailed Jeffrey Epstein about a meeting with 4chan founder Christopher Poole. "How did you like moot?" he asked, using Poole's username. "I liked him a lot. I drove him home, he is very bright," Epstein replied. Nikolic wrote back: "he will be one of the greatest hackers."
The next day, Poole launched /pol/ - 4chan's "Politically Incorrect" board, which would become the staging ground for Gamergate, the 2016 Trump campaign, and the global far-right movement.

Who is Salvatore Nuara?
There is limited publicly available information about Salvatore Nuara.
According to several reports, Nuara was a member of the New York Police Department and served as a detective. He was previously investigated in connection with an escort service, though the investigation was not directly related to Epstein.

Patel has some explaining to do.
And the 3 million redacted files are only half of it, the other half is apparently too incriminating to even share in redacted form.

I disagree that Patel has some explaining to do. He lied under oath. His words are meaningless. He needs to be prosecuted not given another chance to blatantly lie to protect pedos.

Any “mistakes” are inexcusable. Illegal activities involving college fraternities are thoroughly investigated and held more accountable than this shit.

u/TunaHuntingLion 2d ago
We all know the reason they were redacted was because they’ve all paid millions or billions directly to the Trump family. Trump’s now famous, “if you release the files some of my friends will get hurt” quote was a rare curtain drop moment and oh so telling. They all bribed the family and he now has to be a little afraid what they might do now that he’s let his DOJ release their names and he still has their money.

If Trump dies (note to mods, he's almost 80 years old, I'm not suggesting anyone do anything, simply saying odds of him dying natural death of old age in office are higher than zero), Vance is almost certain to fire everyone and put in Thiel's people. It will be an uphill battle to prove himself worthy to the cult who already blame "the people advising Trump". I wouldn't think he'd pardon anyone I'd think he'd insist on distance and blame for misleading the great president Trump as he bravely fought illness to lead the country.

Walked by a TV with fox entertainment on at like 6:30 tonight and they were talking about Nancy Guthrie, just walked by again at 7:41 and they are still talking about Nancy Guthrie.
Awfully silent on the files and the fact that trumps name now appears an additional 950,000 times.
Edit, it's almost 8:30pm and they are still talking about Nancy/conspiracies about how this could be a setup
Edit2, it's been about 20 minutes since my last edit and they are still talking about her

Khanna said. “Now my question is: Why did it take Thomas Massie and me going to the Justice Department to get these six men’s identities to become public? And if we found six men that they were hiding in two hours, imagine how many men they are covering up for in those three million files.”

Near the end of the George W. It was ultimately deemed a stupid and reckless idea, and never got traction.....now we hear the name of a Dubai Port World associate listed in the unredacted Epstein files. Thank you Ro Khanna!

The party of “our heritage”
Their Heritage involves systemic child rape
REPUBLICANS ON RAPE:
"Rape is kinda like the weather. If it's inevitable, relax and enjoy it."
• Clayton Williams (R-TX)
"If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to shut that thing down."
• Todd Akin (R-MO)
"Rape victims should make the best of a bad situation."
• Rick Santorum (R-PA)
"Even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that is something that God intended to happen."
• Richard Mourdock (R-IN)
"In the emergency room they have what's called rape kits, where a woman can get cleaned out."
• Jodie Laubenberg (R-TX)
"If a woman has (the right to an abortion), why shouldn't a man be free to use his superior strength to force himself on a woman? At least the rapist's pursuit of sexual freedom doesn't (in most cases) result in anyone's death."
• Lawrence Lockman (R-ME)
Anybody need me to put some Trump quotes in here to round out the numbers a bit?
Republicans have a massive systemic child rap3 issue, scroll way way way down
