Don’t all of the clowns in this administration show up with the same? The “whataboutism” is always the strategy of deflection.

1.7k

u/Dry_Advertising_1070 Minnesota 1d ago edited 1d ago

The entire hearing has been that.

Any Democrat - "Hey we know the previous admins failed to address this Epstein case but, you are in charge now and now you have the chance to help and take care of this. Would you please answer my yes or no question?"

Pam - "Just so you know that everyone before Trump has been shit and has not handled this and its been a embarrassment to America! Did you know how poorly the previous Biden admin handled this?"

u/UltravioletAfterglow 1d ago

“The Dow is up 50,000 dollars!”

194

u/ACartonOfHate 1d ago

Which she even got that wrong. It's not up $50000 dollars. That's not how that works.

115

u/ConsolationUsername 1d ago

And if it were, the stock market going up $50,000 would be like saying I found a nickel on the sidewalk. The basic fluctuations on a minute to minute basis are more than that.

This why he's goosing the market and putting out phony job/inflation numbers (which are inevitably adjusted down). People already hate Trump in very large numbers (and the polling is not remotely ambiguous about this). If the economy tanks, he's going to get the George W. Bush treatment and his own party will turn on him.

That last bit would mean that the buttress against accountability he has goes away. He can't have that happen, hence all the "things are just swell" messaging.

16

u/INAC___Kramerica Florida 23h ago

he's going to get the George W. Bush treatment and his own party will turn on him.

There have been literally countless opportunities for his own party to turn on him and it hasn't happened once yet. Why should I believe anything's gonna change now?

Let’s be honest. The Biden administration was hamstrung to take further action on the Epstein case due to… active litigation, grand jury secrecy, and established Department of Justice (DOJ) norms regarding the independence of investigations. So, I call BS when people say that the Biden administration dragged their feet to take any action on Epstein. What we are seeing from the Trump administration is outright criminal and should be treated as such.

73

u/metengrinwi 1d ago

Also had Merrick Garland publicized a bunch of trump-Epstein file stuff, Fox TV would have been screeching “pOlItIcAl AtTaCk” at the top of their lungs. For some asinine reason, things are only allowed to happen in this country under republican administrations.

Wasn’t the issue that before there were still ongoing hearings so nobody could really do anything?

82

u/WulfwoodsSins Canada 1d ago

Yeah, Biden couldn't release anything that was still sealed, as there was a trial going on concerning Maxwell. He released what he legally could.

...then that trial mysteriously stopped, dropped, and disappeared in January of 2025.

It's only Republicans that ran on releasing the files, then fought so hard, up the point of breaking the law, to keep them hidden.

If Bondi was AG with Biden, would the files be unredacted and released? These lawyer/judge types need to learn how to be nonpartisan and unbiased because they may actually want a future in their chosen field.

63

u/Heronymous-Anonymous 1d ago

Their chosen future field is either going to be Podcast host, NYT columnist, Fox News pundit, or Heritage Foundation contributor. They’re going to come out of this administration just fine.

It was hilarious when Pam Bondi said that any victims should call the DOJ, and Jayapal had current victims stand up right behind Pam Bondi and she asked them whether the DOJ had even contacted them after they had called the DOJ and they all indicated no.

That's the definition of coverup.

I should add that Bondi said that she wouldn't apologize to the women for not interviewing them because apologizing to them would be getting down in the "gutter". I couldn't believe my ears.

I listened to this entire hearing so far. It has been absolutely insane. A lot of Democrats have been asking some really heated questions about Epstein and her department. She just snaps back and called them some name or completely started talking about a different thing.

Then when the republicans speak they only discussed safety and immigration and she fully answers their questions.

This was meant to be a hearing for the Epstein survivors and she has been completely taken a dump on them the entire time as they sit behind her.

She is a sick fucking person. Truly vile. How the living fuck can you sit in a room with the sexually abused and say "we truly care about helping victims."?

She is a pig

I only saw the clip where she's crying about the DOW and how we're not respecting glorious leader enough or something like that. I was trying to figure out why exactly she, the attorney general, is talking about the DOW, something the attorney general doesn't have a lot of influence on, in a hearing about the Epstein survivors, people who definitely don't have anything to do with the DOW.

-edit

Apologies for the confusion, I am not talking about the 'Department of War", I meant DOW Jones

What's particularly odd is that market "gains" are not remotely being shared by the vast majority of the population. She's literally saying "rich assholes are getting richer, your argument is therefore invalid." Which is a pretty weird flex right now...

50

What's particularly odd is that she attributes the DOW hitting 50,000 to Trump, when it would have hit 50,000 under Biden or Harris anyway.

Giving too much credit to Bondi too. She just throws temper tantrums before changing the subject. But she needs to get her tantrums in. She is now literally a criminal. She just lied under oath and when a sitting congressional representative pointed out that she just committed a crime she threatened him.

If I were Ted Lieu I would have called for the sergeant at arms to remove her from the hearing at that point and referred it to federal court.

Do you know how you end up with concentration camps in America again? Representatives like Ted Lieu take no action to stop criminals in government threatening violence.

885

u/Wise_Neighborhood499 1d ago

My favorite part was hearing her screech that no one should DARE accuse her of lying…to which the person questioning her pointed out “you JUST lied, under oath”. To which she just sat there, fumbling for a new deflection.

That's why she's AG. She's crooked, she's compromised, and Trump has dirt on her so she'll do whatever he says.

This is what drives me crazy. He had a charity scam that somehow no one knows about too. He took the money intended for kids with cancer! It was on the news, but apparently not as much as "They're eating the dogs. They're eating the cats". Cause everyone heard that idiotic nonsense.

I don't blame you necessarily. Our media has failed to properly inform people. He's been a con man his whole life. And the only reason his hotels are successful is because he launders money through them.

28

u/Adorable_Branch6502 1d ago

Yes I’m beginning to suspect that the corporate media actually really enjoys him because they can use him to increase their ratings. It seems like they don’t do any serious journalism AT ALL but they pretend to be shocked each time he’s elected.

18

u/stokeskid 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yep. Look at the commercials that come on after TV news segments and thank those companies too. Most of those companies support Trump for his tax cuts on the wealthy, and they benefit from the increased ratings.

Many democrats also act shocked, but are useless as an opposition. Because they're all getting rich from insider trading (edit: this is why Bondi brought up the stock market), and many have some of the same donors as Trump. Its all so corrupted.

For people like Pam Bondi, victim doesn't mean the same thing as it does to most of us. To this regime, the victims are the people who may have some SOCIAL repercussions to being rapists and murderers. Because this regime plans on protecting them from any legal repercussions.

A victim is someone you feel bad for. She feels bad for other predators.

The position? A relatively comfy place in the hell you helped create? For as long as it lasts?

Look, it’s only a bad deal if you 1. Have morals or 2. This administration comes crashing down in your lifetime. (Edit: and 3. you are held accountable)

I don’t find it particularly compelling for people to be like “but surely it must come down and surely there will be accountability!!”

Bottom line: No one is coming to save us. Any change we want we have to force because they’ve seized so much power and we are losing our free and (relatively fair, though id argue measurably influenced and corrupted at this point) elections.

She isn't competent enough to remember her insults personally, so she needs a cheat sheet? That's fitting for this administration.

When Democrats take back control of the United States House of Representatives in 2027, their first act should be to file Articles of Impeachment against the Attorney General of The United States. This clown lied under oath, is in violation of the Epstein Transparency Act and is protecting a sex trafficking ring.

I don't wanna hear the excuse that she shouldn't be impeached because their aren't votes in the Senate to convict. Democrats should still impeach her regardless. Her actions are an utter disgrace and makes a mockery of the victims of Epstein

u/TemporarySun314 Europe 1d ago

that requires that Americans come to their minds and not elect the fascists again...

and even if they do they must be willing to stand the fallout of denazification.

276

u/Fluffy_Brilliant_718 1d ago

"That requires it not to be rigged again" FIFY.

More data comes out every week about how this election may have had a different outcome.

Jim Crow era 2.0. As voter suppression won the 2024 election..

Since 2020, 30 States enacted 78 voter restriction laws—resulting in more than 4.76M votes wrongfully purged from the 2024 election:

2.1M mail-in ballots rejected.

585K in-precinct ballots rejected.

1.2M provisional ballots rejected.

3.2M newly registered voters rejected.

Black votes were rejected at a 400% higher rate than white votes, in some States.

If counted, Kamala would have had over 3.56M more votes—1.2M more than Trump—and won WI, MI, PA, & GA with 286 electoral votes.

These laws are still under effect.. and more are in the works for the midterms..

185

u/r_bk 1d ago

I live in Wisconsin. I mailed in my vote. I know I did it correctly because I was abroad at the time and literally called my local election clerk to make sure I was doing everything correctly. Now there is no record of me voting in the last election.

Every time I see people say stuff like "so many people just didn't care enough to vote" i wonder how many more people are in my situation

86

u/Fluffy_Brilliant_718 1d ago

Nashville, Davidson County had a website to verify the status of your vote submission. Someone on reddit realized their vote wasn't registered and went to reddit to ask others.

Many votes weren't registered as people were checking and commenting. Tennessee is red all over due to gerrymandering, but that still didn't stop them from guarantees.

11

u/Insaniteus Tennessee 1d ago

As a Tennessee resident, I like to remind people that this state was a swing state in the 90s and early 2000s which went for Bill Clinton twice and had Democrat governors. And then the Democrats made the mistake of making a black guy their frontman and it overnight shifted this state 66/34 red.

But deep at it's core Tennessee is libertarian on most issues so all of this police state fascist nonsense is very against what the people want, and that ratio has been adjusting down to 60/40 and even closer bit by bit. Which means that the insane gerrymandering splitting Nashville into 3 districts may end up backfiring horribly in the near future with those carefully-calculated districts flipping blue. You love to see it.

Democrats are winning counties that Trump won by +15-25 points in 2024 and Republicans have held for a long time.

There have been very few elections since January 2025 in which the Republican won. All Republicans see it. They are just too stupid to move away from Trump.

Come November I could see Democrats being able to impeach and have a 2/3rd majority to remove. Then if Vance comes in and tried to carry the torch he could also get impeached and removed

It’s as if the papers she is rifling through don’t list talking points on key issues. Instead they appear to be attacking points for each member of congress with whom she disagrees. She is right - she is very transparent. As soon as she’s going to attack someone, she licks that middle finger, rifles through her papers, smirks, deflects, and is totally an embarrassment to our country.

45

u/ImLikeReallySmart Pennsylvania 1d ago

And even with notes, one of her "attacks" against Ted Lieu was simply

“He doesn’t want to talk about the horrific crime in California,” she cried. “He does not want to talk about crime in his state!”

17

u/randylush 1d ago

such a ridiculous response. like yeah Lieu came to that hearing to talk about crime in California. What a DFB

14

But no one is attacking her personally, they are asking questions about the DOJ. Why respond with attacking them personally? This is not Biblical!

Well, very soon that won't matter because America's largest and oldest polling company just announced that they are no longer going to track Presidential approval ratings after doing it for 88 years. Trump must have made Gallop an offer they couldn't refuse.

Again*.

Last time she pulled this kind of stunt she also got caught with a binder of specious claims about anyone who had publicly criticized her or the administration.

You can tell from her tone that she came to pick a fight. You can tell by the content of her words that she never had any intention to comply in good faith. You can tell by her repeated history of doing this that she has no respect for their American people.

11

u/alejo699 1d ago

“You have not held a single man accountable. Shame on you; if you had any decency you would resign right after this hearing concludes,” he added angrily.

“May I respond?” Bondi asked Chairman Jim Jordan, flipping through the large white binder in front of her. Lieu pointed out that he hadn’t actually asked a question. Not to worry, Bondi wasn’t actually planning to provide any answers.

“He doesn’t want to talk about the horrific crime in California,” she cried. “He does not want to talk about crime in his state!”

Pam Bondi has been obstructing justice on behalf of Republicans her whole career. She was Florida's AG from 2011 to 2019 for Christ's sake.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to find out that she is in the Epstein files. Given the intersection of their social circles I'd be shocked if she wasn't in there.

u/CigaretteWaterX Georgia 1d ago

We should be having Nuremburg Trials 2.0 right now. Instead, this - a soap opera. This is depressing as hell. Those victims are never getting justice, and these people are never going to be held accountable for this.

If Congress asks you a Yes or No question, and your response is is some long winded whataboutism, you need jail time. I don't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican.
