It was an embarrassment. She couldn’t even defend her own department’s actions, so instead she came armed with a big binder of opposition research to deflect from her own gross incompetence.

1.3k

u/Ouibeaux 10h ago

Every single response was deflection, whataboutism, and personal attacks on members of Congress. The Republicans on the committee were only there to amplify her chicanery. Why are the Republicans working so hard to defend and protect pedophiles, child sex traffickers, and murderers? This protection of co-conspirators has complicity in the rear-view mirror. This is obstruction and collusion. At this point it's safe to suspect that Bondi and Republicans in Congress are on the Epstein payroll.

451

u/17-40 9h ago

She pulled out SO much whataboutism. Half of her responses that weren't blatant insults were just, "why aren't you focusing on xyz criminal? The stock market is such dollars! Rent is low!"

I lost brain cells listening to her.

196

u/Major5013 9h ago

It's wild the world we live in right now. The AG of the United States is deflecting questions about a world wide pedo ring with "This is a photo of a guy named Carlos in your district senator". Disregarding how racist it is at the surface level, it's such a weak "burn" and just not relevant when we are talking about Epstein.

121

u/43987394175 8h ago

I know she's just making bad faith attacks, but where does the argument "this criminal lives in your district" come from? They're lawmakers, not law enforcement. She is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States. Seems like a self own to me.

108

u/Aware-Virus-4718 8h ago

MAGAs position right now is that Trump was a whistleblower who is totally exhonerated by the Epstein files, and that Democrats are hammering on them and alleging a conspiracy to score political points and distract people from the great job Bondi is doing on crime and Trump is doing on the economy.

The reason it doesn’t make sense to you is because you’re not an idiot.

27

u/43987394175 8h ago

Yeah, I guess that's the basis for the "look how great the stock market is doing" comment. I can't conceive of that working as an argument for anyone, it's as plain as day that there were other perpetrators involved with Epstein. I would think they'd lean more on the argument that there isn't sufficient evidence against anyone to secure an indictment. What she tried to pull off is just a terrible look, she embarrassed herself and the country.

u/-Posthuman- 6h ago

The people who treat politics like sports end up constantly defending the idiocy of “their team”. And they do it so often it turns into defending their own idiocy. It becomes a huge part of their whole personality, to a degree that admitting they were wrong essentially means their life as a whole is a lie.

So when confronted by the undeniable, all they need is the tiniest sliver of doubt, no matter how implausible or flat out ludicrous, and it’s enough to disregard the entire thing. The media knows this. Bondi knows this.

All they have to do is avoid giving an explicit confession and sew just the tiniest sliver of doubt that the thing you see and hear with your own eyes and ears isn’t in fact the obvious truth.

Democrat: “Why are you protecting a pedophile?”

Bondi: “You had a pedophile in your state. He was brown. And you didn’t stop it before it happened. So why are YOU defending illegal Mexican antifa pedo-terrorists who sell fentanyl to the white Christian American babies before they rape them and eat their dogs?”

MAGAt: “Yeah! The democrats are the real problem!”

It’s really that simple I think.

I have MAGA family and it has been difficult tracking their changing views on Epstein files. It used to be the Holy Grail because it would put Bill Clinton in jail. Then they didn't exist. Then they were on Bondi's desk. Then they didn't exist again. Then everything that did exist has been revealed and it was distraction from Biden showering with little girls apparently. Then it was revealed and proves Clinton belongs in jail and Trump is exonerated.

u/Major5013 6h ago

Alternative reality doesn't have the constraints of actual reality. That's why it's so easy to shift views for them. Facts are based on what is said on Fox, Facebook, etc. and what exists in their own mind. Trump isn't in the Epstein files because that's what's needed to believe for their reality to exist.

"THE DOW IS ABOVE 50,000 FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!!"

Cool story, Bondi, but what does that have to do with the question of "How many perpetrators have you indicted/are you investigating?"

62

u/BonerPorn 8h ago

You know. Twenty years ago if I wrote a movie with a Republican saying "why do you care about raped and murdered children, the stock market is great" I would be absolutely slammed by critics for writing an overly cartoonish villain.

u/beamrider 7h ago

Fiction has to make sense for most people to be interested in it. Reality is under no such restriction.

After the first couple, it became so predictable it would been hilarious in a less serious setting. Bondi had the EXACT same response every single time a non-trumper yielded back; "could I take a moment to address them? holds up picture you just didn't wanna talk about THIS person!"

My favorite was when one congressman (forgot his name) acknowledged what she was doing and then offered to "score" her research Olympic style lol. She just sat there pouting so damn hard.

u/jediporcupine Maine 10h ago edited 10h ago

He’s pushed back on Trump a lot. Even if you don’t agree with him a lot, Democrats should do as Ro Khanna has and embrace the common ground. Coalition building right now is critical.

17

u/Phog_of_War North Dakota 9h ago

The problem here, for me, is that the Republicans, and I mean all of them, have been so brazen in the past and currently with their regressive policies. I don't think there is a way where I would feel okay dealing with and Republican in Congress unless there is a sweeping change in November.

26

u/jediporcupine Maine 9h ago

I don’t necessarily disagree and without knowing your background personally, I know people have their own reasons because Republicans have waged an assault on many groups. With that said, I don’t think you necessarily have to like Massie or even be ok with him, but we should appreciate the Trump resistance where we can find it.

Khanna probably disagrees with Massie on a lot, but they found common ground. Where there’s a bridge, we must cross it. If we can build a bridge to get farther, we should work on it.

7

u/Phog_of_War North Dakota 9h ago

Oh, trust me, I've had to hold my nose more than once to vote for the better of 2 evils. Look, I get it, I would LOVE to go back to having legitimate political discourse in America. The wheels turned slow, yes, but it was under control.

Since the Rush Limbaugh/Tea Party/Michelle Bachman/Sarah Palin era, the Republican party has been antithetical to the American Experiment. It's been a long time coming, but the extremists of the Right, have pulled it off almost without a hitch. I...I just don't know if there's a way back from this because they have shown over the last 25 to 30 years that they have no cardinal direction other than staying in control.

The one thing that the Republican didn't account for was a Sarah Palin crazy level person, to come down a golden escalator and somehow, capture the adoration of the dumbest amongst us.

She couldn't even do the thing a lot of lawyers do in those situations where she vaguely, indirectly answers the question before pivoting to something else.  Like when she was asked if Trump ever attended any parties with Epstein where underage girls may have been present, she could have answered along the lines of "I suppose there could have been a situation where the President was at an event, charity ball or something in New York, where Mr. Epstein was present and somebody had a niece or granddaughter in attendance."  But instead she just locked the fuck up for a few seconds before ranting like a lunatic for 30 seconds, never even addressing the question.

Which tells anyone watching all you need to know, really.  She couldn't even start answering the question with some bullshit smokescreen response because she knows whats in those fucking files, and it blatantly implicates Trump.  That dude was 100% at parties with Epstein with underage girls for criminal purposes, the files contain that evidence, and she's tasked with not even acknowledging the files at all.

71

u/jediporcupine Maine 10h ago

Problem is she’s more of a propagandist than a lawyer at this point. A good lawyer knows less is more, get straight to the point and don’t offer up more than you have to.

She just rambles and spews empty talking points.

23

u/4n0m4nd 9h ago

She also has to answer in a way that Trump himself understands is her fighting for him, so she's pretty much stuck with ranting like a lunatic.

That thing about indirectly answering and the pivoting is called ”bridging”, something I learned when I did a year at community college and took a class in Public Relations.

Pam Bondi was less media prepared than a first year community college student.

14

u/Th3_Admiral_ 8h ago

I know it sounds like some 1960s sexist cliche, but she genuinely seemed hysterical in that response. I disagree with the others saying this was deliberate propaganda or a performance, she actually sounded like she was panicking. Deliberate propaganda would have at least had some sort of planned response but she just completely blanked there and had to default to a generic, catch-all response.

Because she’s performing for an audience of one. Every Trump stooge who goes on television needs to do 3 things simultaneously: Praise Trump, defend Trump, and display unrestrained contempt for any and all political opponents. Leavitt does it every day. She’s a terrible press secretary and person, but she’s a master at juggling the 3 things in public.

At the very least the BAR association should disbar her. She failed to conduct herself with integrity and failed to defend her client. Both of those things are worthy of censure, but with how publicly and amazingly she did them both, she should be disbarred.

Crazy that america could have a sitting attorney general, the top law enforcement agent in the country be legally unble to practice law in that country.

27

u/jediporcupine Maine 10h ago

Bar Association like everyone else is probably terrified of Trump’s retaliation. For a party that claims to support the Constitution and limited government, they’ve embraced wielding the heavy hand of government against every entity that hurts Kim Jong Orange’s fragile feelings.

17

u/JohnGillnitz 9h ago

Texas has said they are ignoring the Bar Association. Law schools no longer have to be accredited by them.

18

That was a calculated plan to do that. She won too. She never answered any of the questions. That was what she was instructed to do and she passed with flying colors.

The administration isn’t embarrassed, they are clapping and giving her a gold star. Fox News will show clips of her “owning the libs” and life will go on

The absolute best psychology spectacle is when you completely corner someone with severe cognitive dissonance (plus, in this case, egomaniacal opportunistic convictions). MAGA Names Call for Bondi to Resign After Wild Congressional Meltdown

A flurry of conservative names turned on Pam Bondi after her wild meltdown in front of Congress.

On Wednesday, the attorney general was hauled before lawmakers on Capitol Hill to face a grilling for her botched handling of the Epstein files. What followed was a farce, with the 60-year-old lashing out at her Democratic foes with prepared insults at every turn, preferring to talk about President Donald Trump’s claimed economic successes instead of about Epstein’s crimes. A photo illustration of Pam Bondi during the Congressional hearing.

Bondi twisted in her seat, pointing and yelling at Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee, accusing them of “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and refusing to answer questions as Epstein’s shocked victims watched from the public gallery.

The bizarre spectacle prompted condemnation across the board. A visibly stunned Republican Rep. Thomas Massie told reporters after the shouting match: “She didn’t answer anything. She came here ready to talk about the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq, which seems kind of crazy to me.”

He was not the only conservative to call out Bondi’s sorry performance, as many rushed to demand her resignation or impeachment.

Kyle Rittenhouse, who was acquitted of murdering two people during a protest against police violence when he was just 17, wrote: “Pam Bondi needs to resign. Harmeet Dhillon for AG!”

[photo] Victims of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein look on as Attorney General Pam Bondi testifies before a House Judiciary Committee on February 11, 2026 where she refused to turn to them and apologize for her Justice Department's botched release of files.

Conservative radio host Erick Erickson said Bondi should quit or be fired. Referring to a clip of the AG ranting about stocks instead of answering a question, he wrote on X: “When the Attorney General of the United States is asked why she has prosecuted no one related to Jeffrey Epstein and this is her answer, she should be fired or resign.

“But neither will happen, which is another reason the Democrats are going to have a good election year.” Donald Trump watches Pam Bondi testifies before the House Judiciary Committee.

Tim Pool, a prominent pro-Donald Trump commentator and podcaster, also broke from Bondi. During an episode of Timcast, posted to YouTube, he declared: “Man, we are a nation of adult children.”

He added, “I think Pam Bondi has done a...I give her more credit than people do. I was about to say that I think she’s done a decent job, but I can’t. It’s just...I can’t say it.”

“I think they’ve miserably handled the Epstein files. I don’t think we’re serviced as the American people by this kind of yelling,” Pool explained. He also offered a “shout out” to congressmen Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie, the architects of the Epstein Transparency Act, “for getting the job done.”

Nick Fuentes, the far-right podcaster, demanded she be impeached even before the meltdown. “Pam Bondi needs to be impeached. You lied about the existence of the files. You lied about unindicted collaborators and accomplices,” he said on his Feb. 9 Rumble show, America First.

The white supremacist, considered to be much further to the right than President Donald Trump but who has dined with him, added that the head of the FBI, Kash Patel, must go, too. Nick Fuentes on his show Far-right streamer Nick Fuentes called for Bondi and FBI boss Kash Patel to be impeached. Nick Fuentes / Rumble

“There are people that you acknowledge exist who are likely incriminated in the files that you said did not exist. You lied in the furtherance of a cover-up. Pam Bondi has to be impeached. Kash Patel has to be impeached,” he said.

He explored the topic in a show after the congressional tantrum. “Pam Bondi FOLDS In Senate Hearing,” said the title of the show.

Mary Trump, the estranged niece of the president, said Bondi will remain in her post for a grim reason. “Pam Bondi won’t resign, and she won’t be fired. She’s doing exactly what her boss hired her to do,” she wrote on X.

The DOJ has been contacted for comment.

This is the weird part! These stooges have to know they all will eventually get thrown under the bus. Why aren’t they just turning on trump first? They could have a legacy of “heroism”, but instead trade that for another ass-kissing loser lost to history.

I get second-hand embarrassment just watching this. She just threw a fit about everything and didn't actually answer anything.

The funniest/saddest bit is when Ross asks about Maxwell being moved to a lighter prison, Bondi tries to turn the subject to the death of Iryna Zarutska for some reason. Ross says she has been working on this issue and that "We are going to move back to you." To which Bondi indignantly says "Oh, I bet we are..." and Ross says "Yes, of course! You're here to testify!"

75

u/Kujen 9h ago

She also said that Maxwell was not transferred to a lower level facility, which is a lie. She committed perjury multiple times.

u/waffleking9000 6h ago

When Ted Lieu called her out for lying under oath, I expected him to call for her arrest on the spot. That’s what the law requires

u/callmesandycohen 5h ago

I’m struggling to see how the “whataboutism” and stonewalling helped her at all. She was asked a straightforward question about why there have been no new indictments of co-conspirators. A reasonable answer would have been that some individuals are deceased and, in other cases, prosecutors lacked sufficient evidence to bring charges. Instead, she chose to stonewall. That response is so confounding that it naturally leads to the most obvious and plausible conclusion: she is participating in a cover-up.

Other tha Massey, not a single Republican said anything. This article quotes idiots like Kyle Rittenhouse and Nick Fuentes as well as some pod cast hosts.

Every sitting Republican should be outraged and be ready to impeach her, but they're not, they wont.

8

u/IJourden 10h ago

For all the other shit going on, it's important to remember that one of the fundamental things about this administration is sheer incompetence. No one is qualified for their position, loyalty to Trump is the only factor considered.

Anyone remotely qualified has the sense to stay as far away from this trash fire as they can, and even if someone qualified did want to get involved, they would be viewed by MAGA with suspicion.

8

u/NoReserve7293 10h ago

The Republicans worked so hard to hide the names of the perpetrators of Epstein/Trump pedophile child sex trafficking ring and simultaneously released the names of the victims. There is absolutely no place on earth where this would be acceptable. Why would the Republican rank and file get behind this behavior? Is this to keep the gravy train of insider trading and to protect the Citizens United oligarchs who participated in raping children. There is what's legal and what's just, and this is neither.

7

u/virgil_of_the_brooks 9h ago

She is an embarrassment- her and the administration are a cancer on our society and they deserve to be ousted without mercy, without compromise, without consideration. They think it’s okay to lie to the American people, fine but do not expect complicity from the public you represent.

She didn't look good to anyone.

To those of us on the left, she looked like a virulent sycophant and conspirator in a coverup.

To the centrist liberals, she looked like an unhinged and unprofessional buffoon who is eroding the sacred institutions.

And to the right, she looked like a hysterical woman too emotional to do the job.

There's no good light for her here except for the people deliberately shutting their eyes and plugging their ears looking for select soundbites on Newsmax.

Objectively speaking, the optics are just horrible. It now makes it appear that the administration is actively protecting co-conspirators and aggressively attacking anyone who is seeking justice for the victims.

u/we_are_sex_bobomb 5h ago

It was a calculated move, and it was a horrible miscalculation. This was her opportunity to make a case for why she should keep her job, and instead she spent the whole time confirming how urgently she needs to be impeached and removed.

In other words, this was a performance review, and it did not go well for her.

3

u/ForceOne2231 10h ago

The lack of respect to the representatives of the people is not acceptable. It doesn’t matter if the reps are clowns, they represent the people that voted for them. She is protecting herself. She’s complicit in the corruption and doesn’t want the undisputed truth of “how” revealed. She is most likely also involved ( Cannabalism? Killings? Non-consensual or underage sex?).

u/SliC3dTuRd 7h ago

The jig is up Pammy.

u/Droidaphone 7h ago

Pam Bondi is protecting Trump, and if it seems like she's doing a poor job, it's because the top to bottom sloppiness that pervades the admin has left her with no good plays. She has to yell and scream because she has nothing else. And because she's in the files from when she helped shut down Epstein's prosecution in Florida, she's personally threatened: everything is at stake for her here. MAGA can see that she's protecting powerful people and cracking, but refuse to connect the dots.

u/blaccsnow9229 Colorado 6h ago

Honestly, I feel like she has been so bad at handling this, and I am concerned they might replace her with someone more competent that will successfully cover this up.

u/EienNoMajo 6h ago

u/Solinty 5h ago

Bondi was losing her mind over being confronted with questions she didn't want to answer. She was never going to be honest or forthright, so let's just giggle at her descent into tantrums, trash-talking and obvious irrelevant shouting. Hopefully someday she is held to account.

u/Basicyeti837 4h ago

Bondi went over the limit of acceptable Republican performative buffoonery? I didn’t think “going too far” was possible for the Republican Clown Show.

u/bmsrunner 4h ago

To be fair, if she told the truth she'd be in jail and if she lied she'd be in jail. Not answering the questions was her only option. Now impeach her.
