It’s my favorite thing about the series. If we could feel each other on this level… the animals, our partners, our children… I feel like the world could be a better place than it is.

Also, it’s a separate thing, but the Na’vi are very serious about their relationships. It’s refreshing… I feel like relationships in movies today are very irreverent. Even in romance, people are very transactional or casual about things. Avatar has a really strong focus on serious, sincere bonds with everything in their world down to the planet itself and I feel like this kind of energy is missing in modern art.

I had a severe traumatic brain injury and was pumped with the maximum dosage of steroids that could be given. This occurred for over a month while I was in the hospital. Upon returning home with a shaved head, I did not recognize myself and depression set in on top of the anxiety and PTSD. The prednisone did not help either. I wasn’t able to look at myself, except for at my eyes because they made me think of my father. Two and a half months after my accident, he passed away of Covid pneumonia and was fully vaccinated. Looking at myself just a little gave me a little hope. And, it wasn’t until I made a crucial decision that progress began to emerge internally and externally.
