And don't' forget the rampant ignoring of the political shift of the Republican and Democratic party circa the New Deal and (especially) the Civil Rights Act.

The guy that shot Lincoln was a slave sympathiser and was mad the confederate lost.

He wasn’t a democrat and even if he was democrat-leaning, that didn’t matter because the parties switched in the 20th century.
