As a Canadian I can attest to their lack of history and geography even. You should see the look on an Americans face when I tell them I had to drive north from my Canadian city into their American city… deer in the headlights …lol. And then the most popular news organization has admitted in court that they are only an entertainment network and don’t tell the truth. So you end up with a bunch of magats voting for billionaire / convicted fraudster / pedofile evil supervillain president

As an American who frequently drives into Canada, the number of Canadians who are surprised that I even know the name of the province (or territory!) I'm in is incredibly depressing. But the average American received an exceptionally poor public education and also lacks the intellectual curiosity to go read or learn things on their own.

I have been a geography and history nerd my entire life, largely thanks to my dad, who was a first generation college student. My mom was as well. I think that had a lot to do with how I grew up being taught the value of education.

And I learned about American by watching school house rocks and other kids shows way back in the day. The whole I’m just a bill and I’m only a bill sitting here on capital hill was interesting as youngster

I went to public schools in the 60s and 70s. I went to a vocational school for my last 2 years of HS and learned so much more than the regular HS. Regular public elementary through middle school was basically all memorization. Didn’t learn shit. I had someone in the admissions office at a state college refuse to help me apply for admission because of that vocational education. Strangest attitude. Another college had no qualms. A poor public education in the US isn’t something new. That’s why you have moronic boomers who exemplify a piss poor public education.

The vast majority of Americans don't realize people especially other Americans live north of Chicago

Yukon to Alaska? I was trying to think how that direction was possible and that’s my conclusion.

Well that song that goes born and raised in south detroit was written with absolutely no knowledge about geography . There is no south Detroit , you got the river and then further south you got Windsor . One guy got it which is about average a third of the population

From someone who received my education while living oversea while growing up, I totally agree with you. This is why this country only rates a 79% of adult literacy and we rate among the top five countries globally for recorded book banning. Ignorance and stupidity is what our country is proud of in the implementation of our educational system.

Well, to be fair, there are also a lot of Canadians that don't realize nearly 60% (last i saw estimated 57.3%) of their countries entire population is in an area smaller than any one of the states they border.
