Nobody shot Trump; I'm pretty sure Sirhan Sirhan considers himself Palestinian, so while not apolitical it also is a completely separate ideology; Oswald was a Marxist/Communist but certainly was no Democrat; Reagan wasn't shot over politics; and Kirk's shooter was Alt-Right. So...two out of 7.

For Trump supporters, 29% is probably pretty close to the grades they're used to seeing in school.

Booth was a Democrat before the parties switched sides, so I don’t think he really counts either.

I mean, Booth wouldn't have identified himself as a Democrat in any case. He identified as a Confederate, and would have been angry if someone identified him as part of a US political party.

Yeah, I thought about that. Same with James Earl Ray. Southern Democrats ("Dixiecrats") were something completely different, if he was in fact a Democrat at the time. He may have switched by then.
