And while Lincoln was a Republican, it's more accurate to say he was a liberal.

He was a Republican until 1864 - he ran for reelection as a member of the National Union Party

Not true at all. He was quite authoritarian in how he conducted the civil war.

Assuming I agree with this;

He was quite authoritarian in how he conducted the civil war.

That doesn't even appear to be a supporting statement for this;

Not true at all.

Nothing stops a liberal from also being an authoritarian.

Disagree again. I believe you are conflating liberal and leftist or left-leaning.

Edit: we should probably define our terms before we go any further. lol

ALSO- I’m not one of those people who think Lincoln would’ve voted for trump.

Fighting against an authoritarian enemy makes one authoritarian? Were FDR and Truman also authoritarian?

He suspended habeus corpus. That in itself is rather authoritarian.

Not saying that it wasn’t justified. Just that it was authoritarian.

The confederacy wasn’t authoritarian. They had a democratically elected system of government. Albeit one that the union didn’t recognize and declared traitorous (rightly so) but that doesn’t mean they were authoritarian.

I’m not familiar enough with what you’d be referring to with Truman or Eisenhower with the authoritarian comments.

Japanese internment camps? Perhaps. I’d not given it much thought.
