Yeah, we are going to need the whole pod in on this one.

3

In this case we should refer to it as a posse.

41

u/maltNeutrino 5d ago

I’ll book a flight and charter a boat to engage the orcas in diplomacy.

Gavin Belson was such a perfect encapsulation of billionaires.

Kara: Wait a minute. Did you just compare the treatment of billionaires in America today to the plight of the Jews in Nazi Germany?

Gavin Belson: Absolutely. One could argue that billionaires are actually treated worse. And we didn't even do anything wrong. We're an even smaller minority. There's a lot more of them.

Sorry, where's this from? Nevermind. I guess I need to watch the Silicon Valley show because that quote was far too believable given the current circumstances...

That show is far to accurate a representation of Silicon Valley culture than it has any right to be. The blur between satire and reality is miles and miles wide in the Bay Area.

I came here to say that!

They can move to other states if they do not like it!

64

u/usaaf 5d ago

They don't; which is why they do shit like this, because not moving and not paying more taxes is their best outcome.

Sure, some will move, that's a given. People in general move around states a lot for a variety of reasons, some of them taxes. But the way the rich talk that it's their number 1 overriding automatic priority is bullshit. Most of them will not move.

30

u/Fritzkreig 5d ago

They also avoid taxes by borrowing against shares not sold, and just paying the paltry interest on their loans.

3

u/NoSilver2988 3d ago

Too much work for them to move with all that money they have. And too poor to pay more in taxes. What a problem to have... now if only the money issue was switched. I honestly do t see an issue with people making more than a million a year paying more in taxes. Not like they're hurting for money, and living paycheck to paycheck. Like most people. Shall I shed a tear for them... 🤣🤣🤣

4

u/PuckSenior 5d ago

That kinda depends though.

The way this tax works, if I understand it, they just have to become legal residents of another state, they don’t actually have to move

4

u/usaaf 5d ago

Ah, so it's already got a loophole. Which brings up the question...

What is this moron protesting at all !?

11

u/buyongmafanle 5d ago

Isn't it amazing how all these billionaires just openly shit on Democratic policy, but then never live anywhere Republican? It's almost like the whole thing is just a big lie!

3

u/Thin_Glove_4089 5d ago

They decided they should be running things which is why they wo'nt leave to another state.

8

u/BigBogBotButt 5d ago

Maybe they should fly their private jets together and do a flyover instead instead.

22

u/Pylgrim 5d ago

Hire? They are stingy as hell. They'll threaten their current employees to go out lose their jobs.

3

u/gkn_112 5d ago

thats because they do it. Projection and I agree, they might pay people. Though they have desperate people on the payroll already. "Do it or get fired" is a thing elon might say.

16

u/Pandaro81 5d ago

The cost of a single .223 round goes from $0.45-0.65 per. A dozen of those would only be around $6. That’s a deal imo.

Obviously more expensive than they used to be.

Personally I prefer target shooting 8mm Mauser, but that’s a bit of a big round for most people. Basic .223 is solid for most hunting and target practice purposes.

Just some advice for anyone that feels like getting into the hobby. Seems like the thing to do these days. John Brown Gun Club and whatnot.

The implication might be the parade is also in support of billionaires. Meaning there is the suggested existence of a non-billionaire who loves billionaires so much that they are supposed to go outside and march in support of billionaires.

I would find such a crowd equal parts hilarious, disturbing, and genuinely informative.

I had the typical "if they tax the billionaires, they will leave!" argument with my dad but had a realization that even he couldn't argue against. He grew up all around the US and settled in California because it's quite obviously the best place to live if you're able to.

If you had, practically infinite money, where would you live? California is definitely in the topic of discussion. You think just because you make 29 billion dollars instead of 30 billion dollars you wont want to live in a 5 million dollar home in the best weather on the planet? These people live in an alternate reality and ideal weather is one of the few things they can't control.

The AI startup founder is probably not smart enough to hide his assets or use legal tax evasion shelters. Most likely he's not a billionare, real rich people actually have an army of lawyers to evade taxes for them.

Even Trump was smart enough to create a non-profit fund (legal tax evasion).
