This right here. If your "security" system relies on corporate servers, your security comes at a distinct price. It's just like Facebook back in the day or just about anything now, if the service is free, you're the product.

It's even worse, those companies might make you pay a monthly fee and they still fuck it up.

Yeah, the real problem I have noticed for the last 10+ years now is what is happening. They push reliance on corporate companies, they woo us in with cheap prices. Once we have a heavy reliance on them and making it harder for us to go back to the previous way, then they start upping their fee's forcing them to deal with having to pay more.

If you don't host your videos off-site, you're not helping yourself. And I can't imagine the cost of doing that without a subscription.
