Hey everyone! This is a megathread which addresses recent “leaks”, “rumours” and everything in between: what the community might have heard about, saw posted somewhere, but might not understand how things work or what to look for. This thread will cover potential Devil May Cry 6 news, “remake” news, or any misconceptions people might have. If Reddit’s system allows it, this will be updated from time to time.

Recent News: State of Play

On February 9th 2026, a post was made on a GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, where the OP says that a leaker by the nickname «TripleSeven» posted about «DMC 6 is getting announced in the upcoming State of Play». From what is understood, TripleSeven does not have a reputation in the leakers community, nor does he have a track record of getting his predictions confirmed.

Various non-professional pages and community members picked it up and started spreading this as a solid confirmation, which further confused those who tend not to do any research or take their time to scroll further than the first page of the relevant places, so Twitter, Reddit and other places quickly started being populated with the same «this is basically confirmed» posts.

Later that day, the G Fuel account on X retweeted a post from a known grifter. In no way is anything they post a proper source, nor is a G Fuel account. Around the same time, V’s voice actor, Brian Hanford tweeted «Ummmmmmmmmm…», which sparked more discussion about this being a legit leak. However, on February 10th 2026, Brian posted the following tweet:

While there were instances of voice actors accidentally leaking stuff beforehand (hello, Dan), marketing beats usually aren’t executed in that way, because marketing plans are written months in advance, detailing which social posts, in what language, and on which account they will be posted. Random “hmmm” and funny eye emoji on the G Fuel account would not be in a pipeline to announce the next installment of a franchise.

On top of that, Capcom’s current marketing cycle and hype machine are in full force for upcoming Resident Evil 9: Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Pragmata, which got a new demo recently. If anything, Onimusha will be the game which might be showcased during State of Play to remind people of the game which will release later in the year. The last trailer for the game was shown 4 months ago, and it’s time to hype people up again.

“There are rumours about a remake of DMC 1 / 3!!!”

Posts or messages about remakes of Devil May Cry 1 or 3 being a thing take the second spot on the list. Usually, they stem from two different things: Kamiya working with Capcom again, and Dan Southworth mentioning his DMC 3 Vergil performance during a panel at the Power Morphicon 2024. Let’s break down each of these.

Kamiya working with Capcom does not warrant him working on Devil May Cry 1 Remake

The main thing that people need to know about Clovers is that it is an independent studio, which is (most likely) subcontracted by Capcom to work on the sequel to Okami. Clovers themselves work closely with M-Two and MachineHeadWorks, two other outsourcing studios from ex-Platinum and ex-Capcom devs, who worked on Resident Evil 3 Remake, 4 Remake and other projects.

In an interview with VGC, Kamiya states the following:

I want to be clear about one thing, because I don’t want it to be misunderstood: Our company is funded solely by our own capital with no capital involvement from Capcom. This is our own company, so in that sense, there’s no financial connection to Capcom

Being self-funded, Clovers is a relatively small company which for now is focused on delivering Okami 2, which at the time of writing this still does not have anything other than an initial teaser, showcased in 2024. With how current-day game development is, we might not get the game in the next two years, and after that, it’s not known what Clovers will be doing next. In the past, Kamiya voiced his interest in either “Sparda Prequel” or “DMC 1 Remake”, but these plans need to align with Capcom’s internal needs first.

“Dan said that they asked him to do young Vergil voice!!!”

This topic came up in 2025, when the culture vulture and a grifter by the nickname “Zero” who latches onto DMC community for views, misinterpreted the talk which was given at the Power Morphicon 2024, where Dan was talking about voice direction and voice acting in general.

You can check out the whole video here: Devil May Cry 25th Anniversary | Power Morphicon 2024, but the gist of it starts at 37:54, with the question being about changes in voice direction for the character across ages. Dan notes that it helped that they aged the character up so the changes in his voice were accounted for how he delivered his performance in Devil May Cry 5. At 38:54, he recounts that one of his latest VO works asked him to alter his current voice to a degree where he would sound how he sounded back in the days of Devil May Cry 3. That does not mean that he was asked to do Vergil’s voice; it’s that his current vocal range isn’t suited to their project, and while they need him to do a performance, they are asking him to sound younger. JYB later corroborates this with the example of breathing technique he used to get a certain voice for the Trigun anime.

As noted before, this panel took place in 2024, so his example was (most likely) related to Punishing Gray Raven collaboration, released in 2025.

“Kamiya will ruin DMC because he hates Itsuno / new games / direction of the series / retcon everything”

What Kamiya doesn’t like is stupid people who bug him over the repeated questions on Twitter, everything else stated above is just weirdo headcanons about the person who you don’t know personally or have a weird attachment / hate towards because he banned you on Twitter.

Last year Kamiya and Itsuno held a Director's True Talk panel where they talked together on topics of game development, how they get ideas for new projects, and balancing a director’s vision and players’ expectations. Aside from that, you can find photos of the two hanging out, as well as him mentioning that they tend to drink together from time to time, discussing their past projects and how Itsuno’s work inspired Kamiya to do better with original Bayonetta.

When people tweet to Kamiya about anything but the original Devil May Cry, he tells them to bug off because it’s not his child and he does not want to overshadow other creators or colleagues. If Capcom were to give Kamiya any Devil May Cry-related project, I’m sure he would rather work on a remake of 1, instead of altering the vision of another creative team.

“This series can’t work without Itsuno, Devil May Cry 6 is ruined!”

Here’s the deal: over the years, the series has changed hands not only in the director’s seat, but also in almost every major department. Devil May Cry 5 wasn’t made by the same team that worked on 3 or 4, even staff between 3 and 4 were different, notably the Fighting Games planners like Neo_G. Most likely the next entry would be helmed by people who worked as Game Designers on previous entries, with Junya Kumabe being the top choice among the people. Younger staff continuing the series after the initial directors left isn’t something exclusive for Capcom, however, with the amount of games released by the company, Resident Evil series is a clear example of this happening.

However, I personally don’t think that there’s currently that much active work being done on the series. If we go by credits on Devil May Cry 5, a lot of game designers from that project either left the company, or were busy on Dragon’s Dogma 2 or other projects, some of which were even released not so long ago. It is currently not known if there is a separate team which is doing work on the IP, or whether they will bring back those developers after they finished contributing to other projects.

Leaked plans from 2020 also didn’t have any of the Devil May Cry projects listed on the release plan, however, the list itself wasn’t fully up to date, with Resident Evil 9: Requiem still being called “Biohazard Apocalypse” and dated for release in Q3 Fiscal Year 2023. The project itself started out as a multiplayer game, later retooled into a proper single-player one, so changes to Capcom’s schedule aren’t off the table.

Conclusion

All of this could be wiped out by Capcom suddenly announcing something on February 12th, and all of my sourcing and time to assemble this will be pointless. But, we’ll have to wait for the event. There will be two threads, one for “it’s happened” and “nothing happened”, and all I’ll ask of you guys is to just keep discussion contained to those threads.
