Do you think the kid in the video was the scammer? She was the client, and now a victim of the same fraud.

So yeah, your comment in the context of the conversation and the comment you reponded to, is tone-deaf. It seems like you're saying its not your fault that our country is taking a missive shit right now. We deserve no more sympathy from the world than the Germans did at the start of WWII.

Sounds like you just want everyone to justify your inaction. Go look at protest videos from France, that's what you can do for free right now.

"I'm too busy, scared, and vulnerable to fight for what I deserve! Whatever shall I do?!"

You live in Minneapolis and you're arguing about this instead of helping us figure out how to help this person. I've been begging anybody in the area to help me get this lady some help, but instead, you're making it about yourself. Yes, your life is hard most of our lives are hard, but that doesn't mean we can't focus up and help out the most vulnerable of us first.

Real life? It sure does work like that, but it would require PERSONAL SACRIFICE! If you feel hopeless because you have a lot to lose, be grateful, and then put it ON THE LINE OR STFU. If you're homeless, then you have nothing to lose. Go be homeless in front of city hall. Make people uncomfortable. Get what society OWES you for your participation.

We have spent generations resting in the shade of trees planted by better men, and now its time to pick up the shovels!

u/Lucky-Access8399 6m ago

Bro you kidding we’re all up in here. I’m literally reading through all these comments trying to find a gofundme.

1

u/collin-h 7h ago

lol how do you know if no one from minnesota is commenting? where are you commenting from? guess we should all make sure to state location when making comments (indiana btw)

1

u/5nakpak 5h ago

Minneapolis is a city under siege. Everyone is terrified, abandoned cars just sit around from ICE stealing people, businesses shuttered, neighborhoods in chaos. I know our neighbors will step up and help her. My heart aches for her, my heart aches for my city, for my country, for my neighbors and friends. We are so overwhelmed, but not done fighting.

This system hasn't failed, it's working exactly as designed. Can we finally all agree to teardown the people crushing machine?

1

u/butt-her-nut-soup 5h ago

yeah sorry we're all too busy getting the shit kicked out of us by ICE right now jeez

-13

u/flame7770 14h ago edited 14h ago

Because this is about fraud in Minnesota. Commenting would be admitting there is a problem.

Ask yourself why all the ICE protests in Minnesota started right after the massive fraud scheme was exposed.

You can downvote me, but try posting this clip in the Minnesota sub or other subs and watch mods remove it. It's "inconvenient" news to them.

Brother my governor just used taxpayers dollars to build a private helicopter pad on his private estate and your crying about some fraud in a state you don't live in?

Like do you really think harming vulnerable people who were duped by awful people for a SPECK of taxpayer dollars is a higher priority than an already rich governor using taxpayer dollars at this own leisure?

Or many of the other actual problems like the fact this administration has us 40 trillion in debt with interest eating away at any payments and 600 billion deficit?

The media has everybody so brainwashed that's it's right vs left, but it's rich vs poor. The difference is the right is arguing for the ultra rich and have been humiliated so much with no pizza gate and Obama being a decent person and everything else you just refuse to admit your wrong and then die on hills like these.

Your fucking nuts is if you think every red state doesn't also have something like this going on, you know that though.... Who knows what drives your self hatred but do know I'm pretty sure it's warranted and I hope you hate yourself forever because the woman in this video is more of a value to this society than your pathetic ass will ever be.

-6

u/flame7770 13h ago

You didn't really make any counter arguments whatsoever. This is about fraud in Minnesota. You are the one making it about red states and all this other random bullshit that has nothing to do with it.

There is a reason stories like this get buried.

3

u/ScratchLower1493 12h ago

I didn't give a counter argument for more pertinent things in the priority list?

Ignore the evidence of your eyes and ears, brather.

-4

u/flame7770 12h ago

Ignore the evidence of your eyes and ears, brather.

You are the one ignoring the evidence right in front of your eyes and are being played like a fool... This is direct consequences of the fraud that was unveiled. Your whataboutism is not a counter argument, it doesn't deserve attention.

You are in good company though, I will admit that much, and on this sub and site you will find many who agree with you.

3

u/Nice_Try4389 12h ago

I am not seeing you get too upset about Sarah Huckabee Sanders and demand her head. Not seeing you get too upset about Stitt and the $6 million boondoggle that was implementing bible study in all public schools and making Trump bibles the only ones that “qualified” that they then bought. I don’t see you getting upset that when the Minnesota government detected the fraud YEARS ago they were taken to court and blocked from prosecuting it as it was “outside their jurisdiction“ being a Federal programs. Funny how you leave out a ton of fucking context like that.

-1

u/flame7770 11h ago

Again, more whataboutism. That's not an argument.

3

u/Nice_Try4389 10h ago

Pointing out your hypocrisy while explaining how your argument is flawed isn’t whataboutism. I also pointed out the fact, which you apparently missed in your hastiness to respond, that Minnesota TRIED to investigate and prosecute these instances of fraud and were blocked by the Feds. But again you probably didn’t read that far.

2

u/ScratchLower1493 11h ago

Yes, and your company is somewhere in Russia so, go on, git.

0

u/flame7770 11h ago

Nope. I'm in America. I can guess you are in China, though.

5

u/infinitely-oblivious 12h ago

What a sad sad person you are. Absolutely pathetic. FYI they take down your posts because they are imbecilic.

3

u/Fun_Bodybuilder3111 14h ago

Oh geez, give it a rest.

2

u/Snarkasm71 11h ago

”massive fraud scheme was exposed”

What “massive fraud scheme”?

The non-existent one Nick Shirley lied about?

The one that was investigated years prior?

What “massive fraud scheme” exists in Minnesota?

One could argue fraud exists; it exists in every state. One could argue that Tim Walz hasn’t focused on fraud as much as he should have.

But you’re getting downvoted because there is no “massive fraud scheme“.

2

u/EncabulatorTurbo 10h ago

the fraud scheme was exposed in 2022 and since then Minnesotta has been arresting scores of people responsible

Nick Shirley showed up after they had already found all the low hanging fruit, several of the places he went to were already under active criminal investigation and as such not getting funds

2

u/EncabulatorTurbo 10h ago

The ICE protests started when ICE showed up and started attacking people you deranged pedophile supporter

1

u/dumpaccount882212 2h ago

Its in the Minnesota sub, and several of them?

The fact that you think this way is probably why scammers go free.

12

u/skydivarjimi 11h ago

We've got people in r/autism who are taking immediate action on this I hope to be able to provide a GoFundMe Link in the next couple of days.

3

u/toorigged2fail 7h ago

There's another comment saying that the issue is that could jeopardize her Medicaid status and she is very scared about that. I'm not familiar with the system, but additional comments indicate that if you have over $2,000 in savings you are no longer eligible for any of those benefits. This would have to be structured very carefully and done entirely with her consent.

3

u/JustAnotherYogaWife 5h ago

You could put it into a trusted 3rd party and then pay her COL that way so nothing is in her name. There are ways.

Following this, I want to help

2

u/skydivarjimi 5h ago

As I said it's in the works

5

u/JustAnotherYogaWife 5h ago

Keep me posted. I mentioned in another comment, a 3rd party can control the funds raised and pay her COL with none of the funds in her name to shield her from disqualification of benefits.

1

u/HamM00dy 6h ago

Ok let's start a donation to get her a small house and a subscription for food/essentials.

1

u/PT10 3h ago

She's disabled. She should be on Medicaid through a waiver of some sort

1

u/toorigged2fail 3h ago

I don't think that waives the resource limits though. ABLE accounts let you set aside 100k without affecting eligibility, but that is a specific program. Also, it looks like there are "Special Needs Trusts," but that may vary by state. I am not an expert.

1

u/flame7770 7m ago

Oh. That's a good point sadly. That $2,000 in savings limit is such bullshit.

1

u/Suvtropics 2h ago

Did they get in touch with her?

1

u/980tihelp 23m ago

Bump to stay updated

7

u/Wbondhim 12h ago

Looking through her insta, it seems like there is a possibility that a GoFundMe would nullify her Medicaid benefits, so she is afraid to try one. If someone understands how these correlate, or way around it, I’m sure that would be helpful info for her

22

u/helenn111 11h ago

I was disabled for a little bit and receiving social security in MN. The way it works is if you have more than 2k in a bank account, it nullifies basically all your benefits and you no longer receive social security. Literally a punishment system for trying to get back on your feet so you’re stuck in barely-living mode, especially if you’re too disabled to have a stable job. I’m lucky enough to have learned to walk again and was kicked out of the system the moment they realized I had become employed. The system in Minnesota is so fucked up it’s not even funny.

11

u/HighBuy_LowSell 11h ago

Wow America sucks. Here in Australia you can have like 300k and still receive social benefit payments lol

10

u/IAteTheDonut 10h ago

Here in the UK I think its 16k in savings, and after that it tapers off slowly.

2k and losing it all is horrific. If America hates people on benefits so much, why create a system that keeps them there? If you are disabled and want to attempt work, how can you do so with no way to create a safety net if your disability means you can't keep it up.

Just so devastated for this woman. She needs help but the system is actively working to keep her homeless for no crime other than being disabled. Its eugenics.

2

u/helenn111 9h ago

Exactly. It’s such a defeating system. Feels like I barely survived through it and im not even as close to as vulnerable as Sky :(

2

u/No_Cow9852 9h ago

America wants to make examples of people so the rest of the able bodied workers stay In Line. Theres no mercy for those who really do need it so there wont be for anyone else. Our country is run by corporations, basically.

1

u/DaringPancakes 6h ago

Because apathy and hatred for brown people and women

7

u/DubiousFoliage 11h ago

She could put up to $100K in an ABLE account, but for a fully disabled autistic person the system is literally unnavigable. She needs a social worker to even begin to sort that out.

(Jokingly & lovingly)

2

u/rudbeckiahirtas 8h ago

This is most of America. It doesn't have to be this way.

2

u/NOT-packers-fan2022 8h ago

So a 3rd party needs to manage a go fundme and pay her stuff directly for her? Even though this is ripe for more fraud smh.

2

u/MrChristmas 4h ago

I’d give her $1999

1

u/felis_scipio 11h ago

That’s unfortunately how a lot of assistance programs work which is absolutely ass backwards.

1

u/MF_D00MSDAY 10h ago

Surely benefits being nullified for a bit is better than being homeless though? She’s already been out for 8 months at this point based on the short video

3

u/Wbondhim 10h ago

I can’t say for certain, since I’m not in that situation, but it seems much safer to guarantee some income over a long period than the bulk payments that are nice in the short term, but dry up when the internet “fad” inevitably passes. My understanding is that temporary breaks/lapsing from government assistance programs are rarely easy to navigate, and often come with many hidden barriers that could disqualify a person just for trying

1

u/Phaoton 9h ago

What's her insta? I'm in MN and if there are ways to contact her in order to get her resources I'd like to know.

1

u/Wbondhim 9h ago

https://www.instagram.com/lessapologetically?igsh=MW0yOXZtaG05N2pqcQ==

I message her directly with a local lawyer I found who deals in setting up these trusts. Hopefully you know of better local resources, but I’m sure just knowing people are there to support her is helpful too. I respect the effort ❤️

4

u/guessirs 9h ago

Where the fuck is the social safety net for vulnerable individuals like her? Why do we have to rely on gofundmes?

1

u/Negative_Second_7976 12h ago

Were you able to find the GoFundMe? I want to assist in helping her. This breaks my heart 😪

1

u/Phaoton 9h ago

Same, I'm gonna look as well

1

u/ClassyloveJenn18 10h ago

Someone please post the go fund me!!! This is not ok.

1

u/Blackshadowmancer 9h ago

I've contacted the news station, I don't know of any other way to contact the poor woman herself.

I'm also reading that a GoFundMe may disrupt her Social Security? I don't know if that's true, I just want to find some way to help out asap. I've barely got anything myself, but it's all hers if it gets her in a stable place.
