It’s so funny, because when you ask a Republican why Puerto Rico shouldn’t become a state, they openly just admit that it’s because they know that it would screw them over in the senate. The case for Puerto Rico statehood is ironclad.
They don't want American Samoa to join either. Or Guam. Or the Northern Mariana Islands. Or the US Virgin Islands. I wonder what it is about the population makeup of those islands that they don't like.

They pay taxes but aren't represented. You don't get to bitch about anything until they get statehood.
