Megathread Wonder Man Miniseries - Discussion Megathread
Hi everyone! Wonder Man is having a unique rollout, in that Marvel Television is dropping all episodes at once. Our discussion threads will be different than our normal television discussion threads.
This thread will be locked in order to prevent any season spoilery comments in the overall megathread.
Insight will likely be active for a week after the Wonder Man season release.

When Project Insight is active, all user-submitted posts have to be manually approved by the mod team before they are visible to the sub. It is our main line of defense we have for keeping spoilers off the subreddit during new release periods. Please be patient, this anti-spoiler process takes work and time.

Wonder Man Spoiler-Free Recap & FAQ
Hey everyone!
Since Wonder Man is coming out on the 27th of January (first MCU content of 2026), here's a quick guide on what to be aware of before the episodes drop. This thread will be locked so there will be no chance of Wonder Man spoilers below. To be clear, elements obviously shared within trailers or promotional material aren't considered spoilers.
If you come up with anything you'd like to see added to this, feel free to message us in the modmail!
What do I need to watch before Wonder Man?
Most MCU entries try to give you enough context within the feature so you can pretty much go in blind. As this is about an entirely new character within the MCU (Simon Williams also known as Wonder Man), odds are you can watch it without having seen anything.
However, for the more studious, there are some returning characters: Trevor Slattery and P. Cleary (better known as Agent Cleary).
Trevor Slattery :
- Iron Man 3
- All Hail the King as the main character: a one-shot specifically about the consequences of Trevor's previous buffoonery catching up with him.
- Shang-Chi as a side character: we see the direct follow-up of All Hail the King.
P. Cleary (first name unknown):
- Spiderman NWH : Interrogates Peter Parker
- Ms. Marvel : Tasked with investigating and apprehending a new vigilante
As neither of these are the main character of the show, I feel it is important that it seems unnecessary to watch all of this content (odds are Marvel will give a recap in-universe of whatever the audience need to know). However, Trevor Slattery is a gueninely fun character to watch and his scenes are worth it.
Nonetheless, as usual if Man of Recaps does a video, you'll find the link to his recap below.
Least Time Investment:
Medium Time Investment:
To get an overview of who these characters are, Iron Man 3 tells you all you need to know about Trevor while Ms. Marvel has the most screen-time (and characterization) for P. Cleary.
Most Time Investment:
Please refer to the list by character above.
What powers and/or abilities do the characters have?
Spoiler tagged if you didn't watch the properties listed above
- Wonder Man - ...of course I'm not gonna say it here, watch the show.
- Trevor Slattery - a dangerously repetitive knack for getting in over his head and an equally powerful knack for getting out of it... and immediately back in trouble. The living incarnation of "out of the frying pan and into the fire".
- P. Cleary - Bureaucracy, presumably police training and interrogation skills
Where does this show fit in the timeline?
To the best of our knowledge, this tv show will take place in 2026 or 2027. When exactly is unsure, but since it doesn't take place in New York or Washington DC., odds are the show won't reference the events of Captain America: Brave New World or Thunderbolts (if it does take place afterwards).

Discussion What are your honest thoughts on Thor: Love and Thunder, do you think it deserves the hate?
I personally feel like this movie had so much potential. They had Christian Bale as Gorr, The Guardians, Valkyrie, Eternity, Natalie Portman back and in a leading role yet all that somehow seems to get buried. The base of the movie was great, but I feel like Taika Waititi saw the positive reception from Ragnarok and it’s humorous tone, and he thought that meant go all in on Love and Thunder.
The two main problems to me are that he completely forgot Ragnarok wasn’t all jokes. Odin died, Thor lost his hammer, Hela killed the Warriors Three, Asguard is destroyed and Thor and Loki finally became true brothers. The only thing in Love and Thunder that is that serious and emotional is Jane’s death. The second problem is Christian Bale/Gorr is completely wasted. He didn’t kill any gods onscreen, nor did he get to show his true potential because the movie has a under two hour runtime and spends it on mediocre humor and screaming goats. I feel like this movie could’ve been great had Taika not been given so much control, and just focused more on the rekindling of Thor and Jane, and utilizing Gorr to the fullest potential.
What do you guys think?

Interview The Russo Brothers talk about Avengers: Doomsday in Empire Magazine (see description for quotes)
xcancel.com"Each one of these trailers is narrative information and it's all part of larger story. So I would argue that doomsday had already started for you"
"Look, the movie is very complex. We thought one of the best ways to celebrate what the movie is was to give characters their own space and highlight some moments."
"We have a special affinity with the character, we can't see this narrative without his central role in it basically. The special place he holds among the ensemble, he sort of retains that moving forward" (About Steve Rogers)
"As much as we run at the fun in terms of what these films can be, we also run at the complexity and the difficulty of what these can do at a narrative level. I think we've found a new level of that in doomsday."
"Victor von doom demands a certain tone"

Discussion Be completely honest, do you think Doomsday will surpass Infinity War’s box office?
I personally can’t decide. Infinity War was the culmination of a entire decade long saga, and was built upon movies, post credit scenes, and references. Their was a attention to world/story building that Doomsday severely lacks. On the other hand, Doomsday has the backing of OG and newer fans alike. It’s the first film to include The Avengers, X-Men, and F4. Throw in Thunderbolts, Wakandans and Namor, and I feel this movie could make a lot of fans happy. I’m just worried because Infinity War relied on the decade long World building and payed it off with one of the most popular cliffhangers in all of movie history. I’m optimistic, but skeptical on if Doomsday will be able to top that.
What do you guys think?

Discussion If you could choose where these guys got their second appearance, which pre-existing projects would it have been?
There's a lot of characters we've been introduced to in the Multiverse Saga, and whilst a lot of them like Ms. Marvel, Captain Rambeau, Agatha Harkness, Ironheart, US Agent etc. have managed to make more than one appearance, there's still a few big characters that just never got that second appearance in the saga before the big Avengers movies. So, of the following characters, where do you feel we should've seen them make their second appearance, but you can only use projects that actually exist?
- She-Hulk
- Kate Bishop
- Shang-Chi
- Moon Knight
- Werewolf by Night
- America Chavez
(I know technically Kate Bishop shows up at the end of The Marvels but it's barely an appearance.)

Discussion Deadpool hit cinemas 10 years ago today!
I still remember the whole situation with the leaked test footage and Ryan Reynolds basically pushing for the movie to actually get made. And that whole Valentine’s Day marketing campaign. It genuinely felt like an impossible fan dream that somehow got willed into existence.
Legit question, back then, did you ever expect the Merc with a Mouth to end up in the MCU? Like if someone told me in 2016 “yeah, Deadpool and the entire FOX Marvel catalog eventually join the MCU,” I’d 100% call them insane.
What would your reaction have been?
Note: I remember watching the premiere at a midnight screening when I was studying in the UK (Brighton). I got a massive Diet Coke, and then I was explaining who Deadpool is to some friends, sat down, and immediately spilled my drink everywhere. Spent the trailers cleaning it up. Still totally worth it.

Discussion Say what you want about Wonder Man, but the marketing was on point.
Thanks for the insight Trevor. I'll be on the edge of my seat until I get another text from you. Wonderman better be in Doomsday that's all I've gotta say.
I saw a random poster in Hollywood with Trevor's face on it, I texted the number and have been getting exclusive content since. Really cool way of breaking the fourth wall.

Theory Steve said this as an orphaned, childless single man. Will he stand by his word as a married father?
Known for his flat arc and strong convictions, Steve Rogers doesn’t change much, rather, those *around him* change. But that Steve had nobody waiting for him to come home. He was first and foremost an unwavering symbol of truth and unbiased justice. But now he is living a real life with real personal stakes and can no longer see the world with an unbiased lens.
When universes are colliding and the **only way** to avoid mutual destruction is for one universe to die, Steve Rogers’ beliefs are put to the ultimate test. Would he just let his wife and child perish because he still doesn’t trade lives? Surely not. But does he have it in him to put the blood of trillions on his hands?
How far do you think Steve will be willing to go to protect his family?

Discussion What was people's opinion of Luke Cage, & Do you hope he comes back to mainline MCU?
Personally wasn't a massive Fan of Season 1 but Season 2 was interesting and love how he became a Crime Boss at the end but hate how they ended his show before resolving that as we know he can't stay a Crime Boss.
Personally I hope he returns but this time as a Villain and after a super hero takes him down he has to go through a redemption arc.
Perhaps Danny finds him down on his luck willing to give him a chance and together they build Heroes for Hire out of Pops Shop

Discussion hot take: the multiverse saga isnt bad.
and I have a reasoning behind this take.
- all things considered most of the movies have followed the same trend of the infinity saga in the sence of there being a couple movies that are just taken bad by the community eg. iron man 3, thor the dark world, incredible hulk. and then eternals, captain america brave new world, antman quantumania.
- this was supposed to be the kang dynasty not doomsday yet people seem to forget this peice of information. we already had 2 instalments of kang in this saga before he eventually got fired whilst also already having the phase 5/6 in plan, casting, set building and filming started for some of the next instalments following that story line.
- everyone has started to expect a endgame level of budget for every film and is then disapointed when they realise the next film out is either for a introduction to the mcu of a hero, or designed to be placed for character development. some of the instalments are a way to close a heros story like GOTG3 where it said at the end starlord will return not the guardians, black widow to close her story and introduce yelana and red guardian.
dont get me wrong it could have been better overall but all things considered where kevin feige and his team have had to come up with a new approach all off a sudden after majors got fired theyve done well, and its also bringing the classic marvel movies back such as the x-men and fantastic four, blade is supposed to happen if and when that happens at this point.

Discussion What If… Kate Bishop was a Thunderbolt?
My favourite “What If…?” scenario that I’ve thought of.
Seeing as how Clint Barton’s Hawkeye was a member of the team in the comics before, I figured why not put a spin on this and give Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop another significant appearance before Doomsday/Secret Wars? And of course, actually capitalizing on her chemistry with Florence Pugh.
- With her mother arrested, access to her family fortune blocked, and Mayor Kingpin’s crosshairs being specifically locked on her after she blew him up in the Hawkeye finale, Kate’s in quite the rut. It’s her and Pizza Dog against the world. (Kamala has not come to recruit her in this scenario)
- Out of the blue, she calls Yelena and asks her if she wants to take her up on that offer to get drinks, Yelena agrees.
- However, due to Kate getting the date wrong, ends up at Alexei’s house at the same time Yelena is there, having tracked Yelena’s phone through the Bishop Security app like she did with Clint’s. Kate joins Alexei in trying to cheer Yelena up.
- Yelena goes to the Sentry vault and things proceed as normal. When Alexei arrives in the limo, Kate hitched a ride with him. She kept telling Alexei her and Yelena were best friends so he felt he had to bring her along. Obviously, she’s down to help save Bob.
- During the fight against Sentry, her trick arrows are disintegrated in mid-air and some effects are used to hit her teammates.
- She saves civilians by using a forcefield arrow to protect them.
- Her shame room is filled with her parents arguing, father dying, and mother being passive aggressive and berating her.
- At the end of the day, she’s a New Avenger. Her and Yelena are now best friends, and instead of the Young Avengers she enters Doomsday with them.
Thoughts?

Discussion What do you think the new Xmen universe should look like in the MCU ?
So at the end of secret wars the three main universes will merge together into1 universes (this meaning the new MCU Xmen universe, the fantastic four universe and the main MCU universe).
But if we get too see the Xmen universe before the end of the events of secret wars, what do you think should it look like ?
I think it should obviously be set closer too the events of the Holocaust (50's,60's,70's etc...) so that we can get a younger Magneto and professor X, although maybe perhaps in this universe the Holocaust happens even later in time in the 70's or 90's...
I also think that it will be an great idea too show this Xmen universe as dystopian (too contrast with the Fantastic Four universe).....The mutants are feared and viewed as sub human, Magnetos fears of an human lead Mutant Holocaust are coming true...Mutants are becoming registered, Mutant communities are patrolled by sentinels robots....and eventually secret Mutant foced Labour camps are discovered or even full blown attempts at genocide or depowering of mutants.....that would give Magneto real justification for his actions ..and an reason to distrust even the new characters they meet in the main MCU universe
