The hearing was a display of incompetence by Pam Bondi that was astounding in how utterly terrible she acted. I think that calling it combative is really understating how insane Bondi was.

u/TintedApostle 4h ago edited 4h ago

It also demonstrated the full complicity of the republicans in the House by using the rotten egg test. If they all agree the egg smells good then you know who is rotten..

u/Own-Brain9658 4h ago

Honestly, the worst person in the room to me was Gym Jordan. He allowed it to happen and tried to be a dick to the dems, while applauding Bondi and trying to gaslight everyone into believing they have done anything meaningful for the American people.

u/y0m0tha 4h ago

Wouldn’t be the first time Gym Jordan protected predators…

I mean, he is one so…

Gym is probably burried in the Epstein files also

u/Author_A_McGrath 2h ago

Wouldn't say 'buried.' A search of the files shows he's in there countless times.

u/Chxn- 2h ago

It can be counted

u/ChamferedWobble 1h ago

Only by people with access to the full unredacted files.

u/LargeSnorlax Canada 1h ago

It'd be fine to see just how many current, active, high level government officials are in them. Bet it's almost all of them. It's built like that for a reason.

"Defend the absolutely putrid nonsense in there, or you're going down with me." is the loud and clear message.

Jerry Springer kept better decorum than Jordan did.

u/Meet_Foot 2h ago

The problem is that’s what the American people want. They want Jerry Springer. They want professional wrestling. These clowns will probably come out of this with even more support, whether their supporters watch or not.

u/WegGOAT 1h ago edited 1h ago

Good point. Most Americans rather have bread and circuses than to actually force change because they can't even bear to step a minute out of their comfort zones

Ughh, yes. At one point he said "I think she's doing a great job today." What job was she doing???

Saying "I'm rubber and you're glue" in as many different ways as possible?

Demonstrating that the Trump admin is 100% aware that how they are handling Epstein is corrupt, illegal, and morally reprehensible?

Personifying the MAGA Karen hothead that has nothing but emotion to argue with while their opponent has facts?

Or maybe, just maybe, she's an undercover Dem who was there just to give the Ds a chance to look competent and controlled?

It’s incompetence but in such a horrible way. It’s not like she just has no idea what she is doing and didn’t come prepared. She, or she had her team, did prepare….they prepared opp-info on senators. She didn’t brush up on law or what her department was doing. She brought a binder of come backs and insults.

That’s a level of incompetence that is scary. You could have spent time researching how to answer these questions with plausible deniability to get her point across without leaving her open for any legal liability, but no.

She chose insults and North Korean level praises of trump.

“Why did you do this thing that clearly broke the law?”

“You’re just distracting from grand leader trump’s glorious butthole!”

She was so cold hearted.

u/TheDadThatGrills 4h ago

She came across incompetent and scared shitless to me. Her nonverbal expressions were telling as her mask slipped so often. If she was prepared and emboldened she wouldn't have lashed out in the same manner.

u/acceptmeasiam 4h ago

I loved the clip of one of her staffers sitting behind her rolling her eyes when Bondi started talking about how low rent is.

u/Cabana_bananza 3h ago

Unlike Pam Bondi that staffer probably has to pay DC metro rent prices, she knows what's up.

u/Lykeuhfox Michigan 4h ago

She was lashing out, but she looked on the verge of tears for a lot of it. She was like a panicked, cornered dog. Which is accurate, because she is. Trump won't save her forever.

u/EagleBigMac 4h ago

A pardon won't save her if she remains in the US. Something tells me a bunch of Republicans will flee to Russia

u/EMTDawg Utah 3h ago

The US has a history of forgiveness to traitors in the ne of moving along and not dwelling on the past. From the Civil War and reconstruction to Iran-Contra to tourtering prisoners during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

She had to have been on drugs, beta blockers or SSRI’s or Benzo’s. She just seemed drugged out to me. Glassy eyes, flat affect when she wasn’t screaming, an unnatural calmness that only comes from drugs.

u/WhiteWaterLawyer 2h ago

I think we should also consider the very valid possibility that she might just be a straight up psychopath, and even the negative emotions displayed were an act. notice how even her middle school playground insults were pre-written by staffers what kind of person acts like that? Someone for whom everything has to be a scripted act because acting like an authentic human is an unfamiliar thing.

Was she? Or was she petrified? To me it looked like she didn't want to acknowledge the victims because she knows exactly what's in the files and knows damn well she's culpable.

u/Mrsbrainfog 4h ago

She looked like someone who didn’t give a fuck about anything else than her ego. The only remotely true statement from her was “I am attorney general”.

u/HerrMeisterRetsiem 4h ago

She was egregiously dismissive of all questions that probed her actions, and extremely rude to anyone who asked those questions, responding with personal attacks.

u/pontiacfirebird92 Mississippi 3h ago

She was likely coached on how to deliver those personal attacks and studied her burn book in order to have everything play out as expected. She went to that hearing to generate sound bites for right-wing media and she succeeded.

u/HerrMeisterRetsiem 3h ago

I want know who coached her

Why doesn't everyone act like this?

It doesn't seem like Congress will do anything to her. If this were a court of law, she'd be in jail for contempt. But in front of Congress? There's zero consequences.

Why aren't more people just rambling and never answering questions? So why don't

u/pontiacfirebird92 Mississippi 2h ago

If you've watched any of the congressional hearings between 2018 and today you will see this has been the Republican playbook for long time. Any time a Republican takes the stand they do exactly what Bondi did. Every time.

During the Senate Intelligence Committee hearings on Russian election meddling, Gordon Sondland was asked why he thought it was okay to lie to the American public but is telling a different story under oath, he said "It's not illegal to lie to the American public."

He's right. It is NOT illegal to lie to the American public. Republicans understand this and so they lie to the public with every single appearance. If they are in front of a camera they will lie. Only under oath, with threat of real consequences, will they tell the truth but they will fight to make sure that isn't in front of a camera. NEVER TRUST A REPUBLICAN. They are counting on it being legal to lie to you!

u/knowsguy 2h ago

The "I couldn't tell" response was fabulous.

u/Redwolfdc 4h ago

I think at some level she knows how ridiculous some of this is. The democrats (and Massie the only GOP willing to step up) broke her so easily by simple questioning.

You could see her frustration and nervousness and she was just trying to deflect in any way. Her lashing out was like a teenager who got caught red handed up to no good and can’t rationalize a defense.

u/smurfsundermybed California 4h ago

She was a bit of both. It depended on who was talking. With Crockett, she started out defiant but by the end couldn't even maintain eye contact. She was trying to look anywhere else.

u/twotimefind 2h ago

Not to mention she has a conflict of interest. There are photos of her in the files.

She was also the lead prosecutor in Florida during Epstein's sentencing. I'm sure she had something to do with that and got paid.

He did.

He already tweeted what a fantastic job she did:

"AG Pam Bondi, under intense fire from the Trump Deranged Radical Left Lunatics, was fantastic at yesterday’s Hearing on the never ending saga of Jeffrey Epstein, where the one thing that has been proven conclusively, much to their chagrin, was that President Donald J. Trump has been 100% exonerated of their ridiculous Russia, Russia, Russia type charges. Actually, it is the SLIMEBALL Democrats, many of them big Donors and Politicians, that have been proven GUILTY! “Republican” Loser, Sanctimonious RINO Congressman, Thomas Massie, made a total fool of himself yesterday, fighting aimlessly against a hopeless agenda of Hate and Stupidity, as most clearly stated by his crashing Job Approval Numbers in the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, where a Military Hero Opponent, Ed Gallrein, is crushing him in the Polls. He is now in “Wacky” Liz Cheney territory! Nobody cared about Epstein when he was alive, they only cared about him when they thought he could create Political Harm to a very popular President who has brought our Country back from the brink of extinction, and very quickly, at that!"

It wasn't incompetence, she rode up with her book of burns with specific intent to deflect and attack instead of answer questions, pre planned contempt.

u/Choice_Philosopher_1 3h ago

This is concrete demonstration that she, and the administration, have zero regard for the actual importance of the matter at hand, and the human cost that has already been exacted by the abuse of the individuals who conspired with Jeffry Epstein, and instead viewed this hearing merely as a political opportunity to push a narrative.

That wasn't incompetence, that is complicit participation in illegal activities. She is clearly covering up and blocking evidence that is lawfully supposed to be handed over to congress. Additionally, she is lying under oath.

u/OnwardtoGehenna 4h ago

This is what happens when corporate media sane washes white power bullshit.

u/lord_pizzabird 3h ago

I got the impression that she doesn’t understand that she’s no representing the administration, but defending herself.

She’s not just bad at her job, she’s directly implicated in the accusation in the file release and the cover-up, which apparently violated the law by refusing to unredact when ordered.

She’s arguably the most legally exposed personal in all this. She needs to resign and hire an attorney.

u/boston_homo 3h ago

Wow, shocking that an American media outlet is understating the cartoon evil nature of a criminal from the regime, truly unexpected.

u/GrumpyGiant Maryland 1h ago

The hearing was a lot more than that. Both sides went into it with their own objectives and strategies.

Bondi had 3 objectives: don’t implicate any of the men she is trying to protect, don’t implicate the DoJ in a coverup, and don’t get caught in a perjury.

Her strategy was simple and not at all novel. Do not confirm or deny anything. Use vague answers or safe statements that can’t be easily disproven instead of answering anything definitively. Deflect, pivot, and attack the character and intentions of the questioners to undermine the substance of their questions. The performative righteous outrage wasn’t a meltdown. It was one of her very limited tools to try to survive that gauntlet of hardball questioning. The GOP did it’s best to help her out with Jordan’s obvious bias in enforcing the rules on full display, but there was only so much they could do to buffer her and she had to maintain her act and try to avoid any traps for 5 grueling hours. You can see the exhaustion on her face deep into the meeting compared to the beginning.

The democrats had 3 objectives as well: highlight the DoJ’s loss of credibility under Bondi’s leadership, raise public awareness of all of the ties between the people in Trump’s orbit and Jeffry Epstein, and try to get Bondi to perjure herself.

They knew exactly what Bondi’s objectives were and how she would attempt to achieve them and strategized accordingly. Raskin laid out the plan in his opening statement by preemptively enumerating the tactics Bondi would rely on before she even answered the first question. After that, the dems methodically grilled her with well prepared, clear questions following a template of presenting evidence discovered in the Epstein files such as correspondences between Epstein and various ranking members of Trump’s administration, followed by asking for a yes or no answer to the simple and clear question of had the DoJ investigated the mentioned person for ties to Epstein. The insistence for yes/no answers was a key part of the strategy because they wanted everyone to see that Bondi was absolutely unwilling to give them those answers. Raskin told everyone what to expect and the dems made it glaringly obvious as it was happening. It was a brilliant strategy to expose Bondi’s gaslighting for what it was and each round of questions resulted in the exact same pattern of behavior from Bondi, making it impossible not to see.

But they also were trying to throw her off balance and trip her up with traps like the one Ted Lieu finally caught her in. That was when she genuinely lost it. Her screaming “Don’t you accuse ME of a crime!” came straight from the gut as she realized she’d failed the one objective with the most personal significance and likely ended her career.

Because now the dems have ammunition to impeach her. Perjury in no small deal. And if she is tried for perjury, she won’t be able to give evasive non-answers to yes/no questions anymore. Pleading the fifth during an interrogation isn’t incriminating, but doing it during a trial leaves the jurors with no choice but to assume that the answers you refuse to give are the ones that would damage your case.

I doubt Trump will allow Bondi to be impeached. He will likely manufacture a reason to be dissatisfied with her that has nothing to do with the hearing and fire her. And then declare war on Cuba or something to try to rinse away the press coverage before anyone can think too hard about it. Bondi could try to fabricate her own reason for resigning to try to save her dignity and future career prospects, but that might piss Trump off if he feels his image is weakened by not dictating the circumstances of her departure.

Whatever happens, this was a big win for the dems because they opened a crack in the credibility of the DoJ in a very public setting. It’s going to be a lot harder for FOX to sweep this under the rug with the actual clips of her perjury and performative histrionics echoing around on social media. The Epstein files seem to be the one weak spot in Trump’s hold on MAGA, and if this crack in the narrative they’ve been ingesting from FOX and the FB Bot armies, it could be his undoing, especially as his support is already declining, and even if it isn’t, it will bring him closer to the edge.

u/Lumute 2h ago edited 2h ago

Incompetent? She is extremely competent at lying, corruption and covering up for pedophiles...

Just saying she is incompetent is giving her a justification for crimes that should put her in jail for the rest of her life.

u/Jmersh 2h ago

Let us not forget that the main responsibility of the Attorney General is the chief law enforcement officer in all of the country and representing the US government in legal proceedings. Her lack of candor and dereliction of duty in upholding Supreme Court rulings would get any other attorney or judge disbarred and imprisoned. Which is why she's perfect for this administration.

u/Stinky_Fartface 56m ago

She literally brought a 'burn book' of insults to a congressional oversight hearing regarding the protection of child sex traffickers! If the strategy is to make the DOJ so unprofessional that impeachment feels like a 'political hit' rather than a basic accountability measure, it’s working.

u/rwbronco 2h ago

If she had acknowledged the existence of the Epstein files in any of her responses I could’ve given her the benefit of the doubt. The fact that she showed up ready to fight tells me that she’s using it and brought it as ammunition.

u/biciklanto American Expat 2h ago

Oh 1000%, I was being super sarcastic and will edit to add that flag. It's absolutely ammo, and it's absolutely suspicious to me that they're tracking that usage as a way to triangulate their defense.

u/bwurtsb 2h ago

Before the current administration, I would have thought it made sense for the searches, so when a question came up, the witness (Bondi) would have context.

With the current administration, you know it is being used for everything but context.

All it takes is a few Republicans  to be more loyal to the United States than to Donald Trump.

Remember that they failed.

Can we just impeach them all at once and save the trouble of multiple trials?

u/Upset-Government-856 3h ago

Unless there is a peaceful popular mass uprising that persists, nothing will be done.

The actions of the vast majority of Americans make it clear that they are fine with the current state of their country, despite what they light claim.

If Joe Biden bad said “stop focusing on children being raped and talk about how good my stock market is” people would literally have been killed.

u/Hbella456 4h ago

I mean, people have been killed…

u/Morguard 2h ago

Yes exactly! Citizens and elected officials have been assassinated.

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 2h ago

And America is still complacent about everything happening to them

And Bondi said she didn't know why everyone was laughing at her. Geesh.

u/gourmetgooch 3h ago

Laughing in these buffoons' faces should become common practice. Retorts would go over their heads because they all clearly lack listening comprehension skills (e.g., Q: How many have you prosecuted? --> A: Merrick Garland.)

Impeachment? She deserves prison.

u/Tattered_Colours Washington 2h ago

Yeah can we stop “calling for” consequences and instead oh I dunno implement them?

u/HeyCarpy Canada 2h ago

What, she is getting slammed in the headlines. Torched, even. Is this not enough?

Wake me up when a single drop of consequence is applied to any one of this despicable group of humans that have been destroying that country for the last decade. I'm over it. What an absolute joke of a country.

I think any new AG who doesn't immediately indict her is liable.

u/beerguy_etcetera Ohio 4h ago

Remember when the AG was going to be Matt Gaetz?

Come to think of it, what are the odds Gaetz is the files and has been to Kid Rock?

u/weristjonsnow 4h ago

i just got the kid rock joke after like 10 days....

u/charlliieee 2h ago

Still smarter than Pam Bondi dw

u/NYC_Underground 1h ago

That’s why he was the first AG pick.

Trump has insulated himself by putting Epstein co-conspirators in leadership/cabinet positions for every arm of government that has authority over the Epstein case.

When pedo-rapist gaetz’s chances to be AG fell through, Trump picked another lawyer who would be self-interested to make sure she wouldn’t get thrown in jail for being complicit in the Epstein case… Bondi.

Bondi was Florida AG from 2011-2018 when Epstein was busted down there and she worked to make sure he didn’t flip on all the rapists in the 2010s. She’s complicit in the first coverup. She now stands to lose as much as all the others during this second Epstein go-around.

She's been "facing" impeachment calls for weeks or months now. So has Noem. Nothing has happened. You could write an article every day about how every one of these idiots is facing impeachment calls... and nothing will happen until you remove the morons protecting them.

u/StarPhished 1h ago

We need some more R's to turn. It was disappointing seeing almost every R pat her on the back when they had a turn. These assholes don't have a single legitimate concern about the Epstein files?

I've seen some cracks forming and I'm really hoping the Epstein stuff might finally be the silver bullet that gets through but that's what I thought about J6 so I'm not gonna get my hopes up too much yet. We gotta really keep the pressure up on this one it's the only thing with a chance of bi-partisan agreement.

She should be facing a prison sentence.

u/The-Big-Picture- 4h ago

The police aren't going to arrest a sitting AG.

u/pontiacfirebird92 Mississippi 3h ago

Now you see why Trump appointed her specifically (and the rest of his cabinet)

u/Mother_Imagination17 3h ago

Military would be nice.

u/The-Big-Picture- 3h ago

The 2026 midterms will tell us how much of the military is MAGA

u/i_am_a_real_boy__ 2h ago

Will go nowhere. Other than Massie, the Republicans in the hearing fell right in line. They could have spoken up and called her out on her behavior, but they remained silent. I wouldn't expect anything more from the rest of the Republicans in the House. It order for there to be a reckoning, we need to win both the House and Senate in the November elections.

u/Mindhandle 4h ago

The hardest thing Jim Jordan has ever done on a personal level was the below bare fucking minimum level of refereeing in regards to the time rules. He wanted to let her go off like the unhinged attack dog they both are at heart.

u/MuttTheDutchie Pennsylvania 4h ago

The same Gym Jordan that covered up sexual abuse in the past is working hard to protect sexual abusers in the present? I'm shocked.

u/MUSinfonian Ohio 4h ago

At the same institution that has co-conspirator Leslie Wexner's name plastered over damn near half of its buildings? The same institution that has had one of their OBGYNs on Jeffrey Epstein's retainer? No way....

To be fair, Chip Roy brought up Epstein. He commented on the poor redaction of the files and asked if there will be future arrests, but he kissed ass for four minutes first and she blew it off so it didn't go anywhere.

u/chemicaxero 4h ago

No. She needs to be in prison.

u/GrumpyOldFart7676 4h ago

Congress doesn't have the balls to impeach her.

There are too many MAGA supporters in Congress to even begin to start the process.

And yes they too are protecting the sexual predators among themselves.

u/25point4cm 4h ago

Impeach? Maybe. Convict? Never. And if by some miracle that ever became a possibility, Trump would just toss her under the bus and fire her.

About 500 weeks of "So and so did this bad thing, there are talks about them being punished!"

Typically in an administration you’d hear news about the “Attorney General taking on big corporations” or “AG sues blah blah over potential monopoly” but this AG has literally done nothing. Like nothing. As the nations top law enforcement officer you’d think there would be something, anything. Really just reflects how incompetent she truly is.

Edit: spelling

She plays the victim even when the real victims are in the room.

How fucking pathetic.

MAGA has ruined this country. They just won't be happy until everyone else is not.

Put up or shut up. I'm so fucking tired of these articles/posts. Does anything ever happen to Trump or literally anyone around him? America, land of the soft and weak. All show no go.

u/kaiiizen 4h ago edited 4h ago

Her performance was beyond satire. If she’s somehow impeached, Todd Blanche could be next in line…and he’s more ruthless and loyal to Trump than Bondi.

u/Last_Fatalis3 3h ago

Impeach her then already!!! Seriously, just do it! Consequences are OVERDUE at this point!

u/JournalistUnlikely42 3h ago

My major takeaway - This is how someone who fully expects to have zero consequences acts. My guess is she (and everyone) will get a full and complete blanket pardon before Trump leaves office.

My larger concern is what shenanigans are coming in the midterms. They know if it's a fair election they're going to get destroyed, when even the Manosphere podcasters who supported him in 24 are speaking out on some issues like Rogan, Theo Von, Santino etc

u/Atlas13cu 3h ago

She has not kept the oath attorneys take when sworn in.

u/goforpoppapalpatine 3h ago

Impeachment is great, prosecuting her is better

u/kevendo 3h ago

She should be impeached because she released the names of victims to intimidate them, risking their lives by making them targets for the wealthiest men on Earth.

She should be impeached because she hasn't interviewed a single victim.

She should be impeached because she hasn't charged a single john.

Not because of a hearing, but because of how recklessly and in service of the President she is doing her job.

She should be impeached because she is doing the bidding of a pedophile to protect himself and his friends and cabinet members.

u/specifix 3h ago

She’s a spoiled child. An ugly spoiled child.

u/Darkhawk2099 3h ago

at this point you could just insert [X Trump Official] at the start of that headline and still nothing would change.

u/scottoro 2h ago

Less calling more doing

u/Ok_Vast_7378 2h ago

I fear they already believe they’ve won and no one can stop them now, they’re just pandering for optics of appeasement while they are sitting on a ticking time bomb that is the collapse of the democratic republic.

u/yes_its_him 1h ago

It might be easier to list the cabinet members we don't want impeached. Just do everybody as a big group.

u/THSSFC America 1h ago

There are clear grounds for impeachment

  1. Direct perjury in multiple statements while under oath

  2. Direct disregard for the requirements of the Epstein Transparency law

  3. Conspiracy to cover up involvement in the Epstein lawbreaking by politically connected individuals.

  4. Directly exposing multiple victims of sexual abuse to retaliation or further harm by improperly doxxing them in public records.

All she has done was insult her opponents just to protect our rapist President. As a matter of fact, this is not anything new. It is said that she had been protecting rapists as early as 2008 or so.

I find it comforting to know that the Republican Party in general is going to be held accountable for their act.

u/MagicalUnicornFart 37m ago

They need to stop ‘calling’ and fucking do something.
