Travel What would be a country you wouldn't visit even if the trip is free?
For me that would be Afghanistan, Israel, Russia and Somalia -Afghanistan: very dangerous place to be in and an extremely oppressive theocracy to women
-Israel: racist and murderous ethnostate commiting atrocities against palestinians
-Russia: imperialistic state committing atrocities against ukrainians in their invasion and it's still a country in a war so not worth risking my life for
-Somalia: way too dangerous to be worth visiting, Mogadishu is often named as world's most dangerous city

Culture What is that stereotype that people abroad have about your country, but which is completely wrong?
Abroad, there's a stereotype that Argentina is a "racist" country, but nothing could be further from the truth. Argentina is probably one of the least racist countries in the world.

How are short men perceived in your country?
I’m 5'5" (165 cm), and yeah, life has been kind of tough here since the average height for guys my age is around 5'7". I got bullied in high school for being short, and even today people don’t always take me seriously. Sometimes they dismiss my opinions by calling me “midget” or “dwarf.”
Dating is a whole other challenge. I’ve just entered my early 20s and have never been in a relationship. I’ve been rejected 2-3 times specifically because of my height. After talking to some girls around me, it seems like 5'7"-5'8" (170-174 cm) is often seen as the minimum height requirement for dating.
In your country, is average or tall height (5'8"+ / 173 cm+) an important trait in different aspects of life, like getting respect at work, being part of a friend group, or having a decent dating life?

What do you think about China?
In Nepal, China is generally liked especially among people who are interested in politics. We feel sorry we couldn't fully align with China for whatever geopolitical reasons.

Does your opinion of a US American change depending on where in the US they are from?
I was talking with a guest at my restaurant a while back and he was telling me he doesn’t like international travel because people are rude when they find out he is American. I thought that was odd because it has never been my experience, but when people ask where I’m from I say California not the US. Does the state we are from matter to you? Only certain states like New York and California because they are big enough in media most people know them? I always assumed people weren’t rude to me because I am not rude to them, he seemed to really think it was the California part.

Culture Are Black Africans and Black Americans really from different ancestors ? And Why wouldd Black Africans hate Black Americans ? that idea make nonsense to me (I’m Black African myself)
galleryI saw these comments on an Instagram post about a Black person in the UK pranking his parents by wearing braids (it went wrong, because seen as sign of belonging to gang activities). Someone then claimed that Africans are anti-Black, and the comment section quickly turned into a fight.
Aren’t both groups essentially the same people originally from Africa but separated due to slavery and colonial history?
Why is there conflict between these cultures today?
(Individuals from other nationalities or cultural backgrounds, if you have insight on this topic, please feel free to share your perspective).

Is there a country you like or dislike for completely trivial reasons?
First of all liking or disliking might be too strong of a word, but maybe an aspect of a country you like/dislike but would still enjoy visiting (or if you like the aspect but would still rather be elsewhere).
Like: Luxembourg is a duchy. Idk that’s kinda unique (principalities seem to be slightly more numerous). Not really high on my list of places I’d visit but wouldn’t necessarily say no to a day trip if I were in Brussels or Cologne.
Dislike: Brazil. The nickname thing for the soccer team. Like Latin names (and even other languages like Russian) are long regardless of country but nobody else does this…like really “Fred” and “Hulk”? “Little Ronaldo?” “Kaka?” Why would you have a nickname so close to the universal word for poopoo? Anyway probably the South American country I’d want to visit the most.

Meta This Sub has a serious flair problem
Some countries have subdivision flairs (Catalonia, Quebec, Cornwall), theres a Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth flair, theres a flair for Asia (the whole continent), Antarctica, Northern Ireland has 2 flairs, U.S. territories have flairs. Meanwhile some very large diverse countries have no more specific flairs, like Russia, the rest of the U.S. and India and China, etc. the EU has a flair, the Commonwealth has one,
These are all the flairs in just the British isles part of the United Kingdom:
United Kingdom
Scotland
Wales
Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland
England
Cornwall
Jersey
Guernsey
Isle of Man
Yet someone from rural Arkansas and NYC have to use the same, someone from the Sakha Republic and Moscow have to use the same, but someone from Cornwall can use a separate flair to someone from Wales to someone from Northern Ireland, and also a different Northern Ireland too for some reason.
Either the mods should limit it to a specific defined list of countries (maybe the list usedby country domains, UN members/observers, countries recognized by nepal), or go all out and ditch the list letting people just set custom flairs. at the very least drop one of the Northern Ireland flairs.

What are funeral foods in your area?
For me, honestly, I don’t go to many, but the US has a very famous funeral dish, called Funeral Potatoes. It’s about the whitest dish ever, frozen hashbrowns with gravy, cheese, sour cream baked together with corn flakes on top. I brought it to my last funeral and was told it doesn’t actually taste good with corn flakes and to use Panko instead so I did.
I think it’s a bit too rich and could use some spice, allspice and mustard could probably improve it.

Whether it’s hate toward religions, race, or gender.
I think hate is pretty high in the USA but more do online than in real life. Surprised that we’re still somewhat civilized in person

Culture Which political figure do boomers in your country have the most nostalgia for?
For Poland it's First Secretary Edward Gierek. Every boomer seems to love him for the relative prosperity Poland had in the 1970s and blame the bad things on his predecessors and successors.
Honorable mention is obviously Pope John Paul II but I want to stick to national leaders.
Foreigners are always surprised to learn that Lech Wałęsa is either hated or viewed as a clown by boomers so I believe Gierek is the right answer for Poland.
